Joey Greco Takes Hollywood By Storm
Posted by Tommy Garrett on May 27, 2007 - 6:51:00 PM

Joey Greco is an educated psychologist major and known to ESPN viewers as host of one of their early and groundbreaking shows.  Since then he's made his way to late night television and has been the host of the TV series "Cheaters" for some time now.   Joey is one of the nicest, most charming and generous people in the business.  He is very concerned about the clients who approach the show and want to know if their spouse or significant other is actually cheating on them or if it's all in their own head.

Usually they find out through detectives that the case is usually valid.  Everyone knows where you have doubt in your relationship that is a red flag and why we continue doubting our sixth sense is beyond me.   So I asked Joey about that.  "People are usually in a bad relationship and they are trying to find someone to blame.  They look outside of themselves and sometimes blame the third party.  Often times the third party is not even aware of the relationship they are intruding upon.  I often feel such empathy and I really feel bad when someone has disrespected a client so badly and I ask, what do you want to do? Where is this relationship going?  Many times they say, I love him he's a good man or woman except for this.  I feel crushed at that moment but what can you do to tell someone to work on their self esteem and to expect more for themselves? How do you get someone to work on loving their self first?  It's a tough call and we have offered counseling for many of our clients and I'm happy to say many times it works out,"  said Joey.

But it's his newest project, the TV Host, that this handsome actor is most proud of.  "Night Crawlers" is a film that was shot recently with a tentative release date of late summer.   Joey got to play a vampire.   Lon Chaney move over, the next best movie idol is on his way.   Joey says, "This project was offered and I told my agent I could not turn it down.  I really enjoyed working on this project. It was very different from "Cheaters" and other projects that I have done.  I'm a working actor and that's always great."  Joey did an episode of "The George Lopez Show" last season and loved it.   The show has been cancelled by ABC, however Joey's always a part of that show's history now.  When filming he met George Clooney.  "I was so amazed, he was so gracious and polite and he's a superstar.  He told me he enjoyed the show and was happy to meet me.  That really was a great feeling."  Greco would be surprised how many celebs in this town love his show.  Cameron Diaz, Vince Vaughn, I even know a soap star that stays up late every night to watch.   The show is maybe a bit tabloidish, but the subjects are not fake.  They are genuinely reacting to either finding out about a loved one or shocked when they see Greco and his cameras arrive; catching them having dinner with a date they have no business being with.

Television has evolved, surely this wasn't something that could have aired twenty five years ago.   But for today it's real TV.  The only thing that compares to it on the air today, is the train wreck called Rosie O'Donnell and her many feuds with various other co hosts and celebrities and the well, brainiac Donald Trump.   Joey is an actor and says, "I would like to find more projects like this movie I just did."  "Nightcrawlers" is an up to date version of a vampire clan who are searching for a female vampire that is able to do what no other vampire has, which is live outside in daylight.   Greco had fun on this set too, his great Italian humor had him doing his first scene in a campy manner.  Everyone cracked up on the set except the director.  "He was so into what he wanted for the scene that he didn't get it until someone told him, hey, Joey's just playing around."  Then the director broke out and laughed along with everyone else.

Joey Greco is also looking at some pilots and various offers that are being circulated his way.  Though he has no desire to leave the show that  has made him an international star, he is an actor and would like to do other things.  Joey says, "That's what an actor is, you know.  You always want to do something different and I am excited about this movie (Nightcrawlers).  So is the crew of the flick.  Everyone connected with it says, they don't know how he was able to fly from Texas to his home in New York on sometimes a weekly basis, stay up all night working on the show (Cheaters) and then come here and work and know his lines.  One set sider says, "He's the easiest person to work with.  We are lucky and excited to have him as part of this film, since it's only a matter of time before he's in Hollywood making big budget movies."

I have to agree with everyone who is a fan of this actor.  Joey Greco is destined for great things.  He is perhaps the easiest person to talk to and not hard to look at either.   Surely every woman who watches his hit show "Cheaters" is also asking the question,  "Why are these women crying over losers when the next Cary Grant is right in front of them trying to get them to love themselves?"

Cheaters airs in syndication across the US and internationally.  Check your local listings for times.
