What's Next In Hollywood?
Posted by Tommy Garrett on Aug 5, 2007 - 5:34:49 PM

Hollywood is buzzing this week.  Nicole Richie admitted to drug use on the day she was arrest for driving under the influence, Paris Hilton made a play for Adrian Grenier at a local hot spot.  The smart guy said, no thanks.  Peter O'Toole turned 75 this week and the new book "Skinny Bitch" is on the New York Times Best Sellers List.  Any book about dieting is bound to be a hit in this town.

The Fall schedule is looking much better this year and fewer reality Television shows on the list.   Regis Philbin ignores rumors that he's about to retire Kelly Ripa won't comment on whether or not she wants her husband actor Mark Consuelos to replace her cohost.   I heard from a source close to the camp that Mark doesn't want to take the chance of working with his wife again.   The almost decade long stint on ABC's "All My Children" was more than enough.   The happy couple seems happiest not working together.   Television critics lambasted "The View" this week.   Seems that they don't like the replacement for Rosie O'Donnell.  Whoopi Goldberg is too nice, they seem to think.   Well, I suspect she's not going to remain pleasant, since the producers of the show want to see Whoopi vamping it up and getting into political banter and becoming a clone of Rosie.   Whoopi, just be yourself.   Let the critics complain, don't take the bait.  The media wants to see a daily smack down on the show, the viewers want to be entertained and they had enough of Rosie.

The tide is turning.  Seems even the most liberal among Hollywood producers feel Lindsay Lohan may have damaged her career beyond repair.   It is quite sad to see her implode, but her mother and manager Dina Lohan should have been more mindful of her daughter's situation.   Nothing is destroyed forever, but unless Lindsay turns her life and career around the way Rober Downey Jr. did several years ago, she will be a has been before she turns 22.

Paris Hilton is leaving her Hollywood mansion and everyone in the neighborhood is celebrating it.   Maybe her new neighbors will be more used to the rift raft showing up for her parties, her pets showing up at every neighbor's door and the long line of paparazzi that she courts for attention.   Good luck Paris, maybe try Thailand?

Only on daytime television is a death not the end of one's career.   Look for the current TV Guide to see who will be back on Y&R just weeks after his departure.  Michael Logan is the best journalist in the biz and can always be counted on for real scoops.
