BEVERLY HILLS—If she were a category on Jeopardy, the answer would be: She’s had roles opposite Paul Newman, Clint Eastwood, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Ginger Rogers and William Holden. The question would be: Who is Patricia Crowley?
Crowley's career spans not only Broadway, films, summer stock and all the major anthologies aired during the Golden Age of television, but also her own delightful series, “Please Don’t Eat the Daisies.” She is writing her memoir; It’s about time, too. She has myriad of stories about working at Paramount Studios, with Aaron Spelling, Debbie Reynolds and on the daytime drama, ABC's "Port Charles."
She will be reminiscing about her career with author/writer Barbara Roisman Cooper. The book will be titled, "Forever Female," which refers to Pat’s very first film, in which she starred with Holden and Rogers when she was barely out of her teens. “There’s so much to tell, beginning with my childhood in the coal mining town of Olyphant, Pennsylvania, to entertaining Elvis Presley at our home in Los Angeles,” she said. Roisman Cooper met Crowley when she was writing the autobiography of actress Anna Lee, who for 25 years played Lila Quartermaine on ABC's daytime mega hit "General Hospital." "Anna Lee: Memoir of a Life on General Hospital and in Film" was published by McFarland Publishers, Inc.
"I knew when I interviewed Pat Crowley for Anna’s story that she, too, had a fascinating life that should be told. I’m privileged to be working with her,” said Cooper. This will be Cooper’s third book. ("Straight From the Horse’s Mouth," which she wrote with film director Ronald Neame, was her first.) She is also working on a major reference book, "Great Britons of Stage and Screen," which will include personal interviews with such actors as Sir Ben Kingsley, Jeremy Irons, Jean Simmons and Sir Derek Jacobi. The book will also feature interviews with film editors, production designers, film and theater directors, directors of photography, costume designers, play-and-screenwriters and other talented individuals who contribute to both theater and film.
Canyon News will update readers on this project of Ms. Crowley's.
