A Little Hollywood Mix

Aussies are up in arms over the exciting news that - shy but talented actor Geoffrey Rush will be making a stage appearance this month in Melbourne. Rush rarely makes stage appearances but should do more. The man is so charismatic and talented and if you are lucky to ever see him on stage, it's such a treat. Many of my friends in LA are always talking about their trips down under. If anyone is heading down under the weeks of March 24 - April 21, you have to see Rush in "Exit the King." Why has Leo been cheated again for the Lead Actor Oscar? The guy is poised, handsome, talented and does such a great job of choosing his roles. He was the best thing in "The Departed" and his Oscar nominated role in "Blood Diamonds" I sure hoped was a winner. Last turn was "The Aviator" where he was cheated terribly out of it. But he just keeps moving along. The sign of a true star. You know Cary Grant never won an Oscar, don't you? He was a magnificent star as well. But Leo is young, has his head on straight and sure to be offered even better roles in the future. I just felt this was his year again. I bet I'm no the only one.
Ruta Lee is Lithuania bound this month. In a few weeks she's off to her homeland to receive an honor from The President of the Nation there. Everyone knows you have to move at the speed of light to keep up with Ruta, and her handsome husband Webb does that with such ease. The woman is truly a star in every sense of the word. Check out her website: www.rutalee.com and if you have an opportunity to see her on stage, don't miss it.
My space is valuable, but I am taking time to bring out a national disgrace. Something that is more important than my opinions on Hollywood and/or yours. Please take the time to do the right thing. Every single American who reads this column, please, put everything aside for one moment, write to your Senators, whether you voted for him/her or not. I don't care if that senator is your cup of tea, political affiliation or not. Do the same with your very own Congressman. Tell him/her that we are appalled as Americans about how our injured military men and women are being treated by DOD. Walter Reid Medical Center, in Washington D.C. is just the tip of the ice berg. All of our Veterans' Facilities fall short of what our injured heroes deserve. I support this war, but I have long known that our fighting men and women don't get treated the way we know they should be. Whether you are for this war or not, and I know most of you reading this are against it. Please, take five minutes out of your schedule and write to our leaders in Washington. We must fix this problem. We are Americans, there is absolutely nothing we can't achieve. Please remember those who are fighting for our freedoms. Please don't let them be forgotten.
