Sean Kanan's Triumphant Return To TV
Posted by Tommy Garrett on Jul 19, 2009 - 8:23:06 PM

HOLLYWOOD—Just when you thought Genoa City couldn’t get any more complicated, in comes Sean Kanan to add his unique brand of intrigue to the landscape. Maria Arena Bell has had the incredible actress Adrienne Frantz on her soap “The Young and the Restless” for a few years now. Amber’s past keeps returning to cause her problems with her boyfriend and current love Daniel Romalotti. But when Amber and Daniel were searching the mysterious office of the man they believe killed the art thief a few weeks ago, Amber stumbled upon a matchbook that said, "The Lair on Sunset Boulevard." Fans of "Y&R's" sister soap “The Bold and the Beautiful” knew what was coming. Amber’s past in Los Angeles is about to come back to haunt her—full steam ahead.

In the next scene we saw Deacon Sharpe, who previously owned the dive bar The Lair having lunch with Victoria Newman while talking about stolen artwork. Amber came into the Genoa City Athletic Club where they were with Daniel and almost passed out. Frantz’s performance was sensational. Amber was frightened to the core. She and Deacon Sharpe played by the handsome and talented Sean Kanan had a really complicated history in L.A. Deacon had been obsessed with the blonde beauty and had blackmailed her, had an affair with her, broken up her marriage to Rick Forrester, well, we could go on.

What matters now is the future of the former star crossed lovers. It is only a matter of time before Amber falls victim to Deacon’s charms again. With Sean Kanan playing the role, his alter ego will more than likely seduce quite a few ladies in town. Everyone from Nick Newman to Jack Abbott had better hide their wives. Not to mention J.T’s wife Victoria Newman was the first lady he set his sights on the moment he arrived in town. Amber’s fear of Deacon is palpable with Frantz’s performance. They have a very complicated history and it’s about to be exposed much like every other secret the young lady has tried to hide.

Sean Kanan broke hearts on ABC’s “General Hospital” in the ‘90s; he’s an actor who has consistently reinvented himself as an artist while improving with every role. He’s always been a fan favorite as well. Fan of Kanan’s and my longtime friend, Wayne Lawless of Hollywood says of his return, “It’s so great to see “Y&R” cast Sean. Not only is he a superior actor and a really great guy, but he’s extremely fan friendly. Every time I have ever met him in person he was warm and kind to every fan in the room.” Kanan is a man of class and impeccable taste, while Deacon is far from it. But playing this type of role is something Sean has mastered as he’s continued over the years to hone his craft as a thespian and under the tutelage of the most talented woman in daytime production, Maria Bell, he’ll not only do fine but he’ll excel.

Sean Kanan’s return to daytime television was much anticipated and is being hailed as the best news for “Y&R” in years. Playing a role he made famous on “B&B” is also exciting. Deacon’s not a murderer however or is he? Did Deacon kill the art thief or is that a ruse by the talented writers of the hit series? Whatever happens, we are expecting electricity, fireworks and history between one of daytime’s hottest former super couples in Frantz and Kanan. But also we know that it won’t just be a rehash of the past. Maria Arena Bell is a master storyteller of her own. The magic between Sean Kanan and all of his leading ladies is electrifying and exciting to watch. Daytime’s most handsome leading man is baaaccckkk! And we are about to see him shine on CBS again.
