On the Industry

Cool in Cannes... Courtesy of Tom Ford
Posted by Tommy Garrett on Jun 10, 2007 - 5:58:00 PM

Tom Ford International and the Tom Ford store occupy 845 Madison Avenue in Manhattan.    But Ford took his handsome Hollywood looks and his elegant style to the continent of Europe recently and set the Cannes Film Festival on fire.   Ford had the great job of making one of the most handsome leading men in Hollywood look like a real movie star.  Ford was ecstatic when he was asked to make Brad Pitt as elegant as Cary Grant and to bring back the look of classic Hollywood leading men with style and elegance.   With that goal, Ford achieved his vision.

No doubt Pitt couldn't look bad even if a less talented or seasoned designer had gotten his hands on him.  But having Tom Ford dress you is one of the best things that can happen to a person.  Pitt was in Cannes, France to promote his own Plan B Production starring his beautiful leading lady, Angelina Jolie.   "A Mighty Heart" is the real life story of the murdered Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, who was kidnapped and killed by Pakistani militants and terrorists when he was only doing his job and trying to make a difference in the lives of the people in the Middle East.  Pitt was also in town to promote his work with friend George Clooney's production of "Oceans 13."

But from the moment handsome Tom Ford got off the private jet, all eyes were on him.   Ford is perhaps the most handsome and elegant man on the planet since Clark Gable.  Equally as charming and witty and a lot of fun to be around.   Sending Brad Pitt out on the red carpet was a dream come true for the Texas native.

Brad Pitt wears a Made-To-Measure Black Wool Peak Lapel Three Piece Tuxedo, White Piquet Plastron Shirt, Black Velvet Bow Tie, Diamond Studs and Cufflinks, and Black Leather Patent shoes, all from the Tom Ford Menswear Collection, to the Premiere of ‘A Mighty Heart’ at the Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 2007.

But never one to be upstaged, Pitt knew his costar, producer and director George Clooney would steal everyone's thunder when he arrived for the premiere of his film being showcased.   Pitt's only weapon was friend and designer Tom Ford.  From everyone's opinion Brad stole the show with his dazzling arrival looking as cool as Peter Lawford did when he made the trip to promote "Ocean's 11" in 1960.
