BEVERLY HILLS
—This week in Hollywoodland is all about the week before “New Moon” makes its debut and over 100 million young female fans will be screaming the name of Robert Pattinson, who plays vampire Edward Cullen and we offer a sneak peek of the trailer. Also, Tanna Frederick is getting Oscar buzz for her amazing transformation in “Irene in Time,” while still blowing critics away in Henry Jaglom’s play, “Just 45 Minutes From Broadway,” which is still playing at the Edgemar Theater in Santa Monica. There were other surprises this week in Tinseltown.
Tanna Frederick’s amazing performance in “Irene in Time” is all the rage now that many Academy voters are getting an opportunity to see screenings of the film. With Frederick, Hilary Swank and the actress Mo’Nique all being talked about for their roles in “Irene in Time,” “Amelia” and “Precious” critics are impressed by these three ladies. My money is on Tanna, who transformed herself from the first film I fell in love with her in, “Hollywood Dreams” to an all new heroine, emotional and poignant in “Irene in Time.” Recently Tanna told Canyon News, “I am loving life. I’m so lucky to be in ‘Irene’ and now to be doing this wonderful play, portraying Panda has been eye-opening for me and I love the cast.” The cast loves Frederick as well. Harriet Schock tells Canyon News, “She’s an amazing young woman and actress and I simply love working with her.”
Schock has released a CD through Rainbow Films called “Dancing with My Father,” the soundtrack from “Irene in Time,” which can be purchased by going to harrietschock.com. Schock enjoyed working with Andrea Marcovicci on the soundtrack. In addition to “Dancing with My Father,” other songs include “In Time, Forever We’ll Be,” “Starbucks,” “Searching For You,” and “OK, you Win, I Give Up, You’re Right, I’m Gone.” David Garver who is Frederick’s leading man in “Just 45 Minutes From Broadway,” calls Tanna, “A dream to work with.” I can vouch for that, as I look forward to our scene in her 2010 “Queen of the Lot” also produced, written and directed by the great Henry Jaglom.
Edis Kayalar was booked and deported by the Los Angeles Police this week when he was accused of trying to extort money from supermodel Cindy Crawford and her businessman husband Rande Gerber. Apparently a former nanny of the couple took some photos of one of their children gagged and restrained to a chair, then gave them to Kayalar, who wanted money or he’d release the photographs to the media. This is one of Hollywood stars’ greatest fears and is why most celebrities have confidentiality agreements, so they cannot be swindled later. Though no signed contract could have stopped these people in this situation. Good for Rande and Cindy for going to the authorities, including the FBI and getting their safety and reputation back for themselves and their beautiful children.
With Hollywood going with T-Shirts, Team Edward or Team Jacob, both from the “Twilight” film franchise, I am proudly wearing a Team Stephanie T-Shirt. This being Stephanie Forrester on “The Bold and the Beautiful” who could teach Edward and Jacob a thing or two. The actress Susan Flannery would be a great vampire character in the upcoming sequel to “New Moon,” “Eclipse.” Flannery who is a multi-Emmy winner and Golden Globe winner is just what the “Twilight” series needs, an established, dynamic presence who simply dazzles on the screen. For those fans of the “Twilight” films, check her out on “The Bold and the Beautiful” on CBS-Daytime.
Joe Jonas and Jennifer Love Hewitt are on Team Edward while Demi Lovato and “Hotel for Dogs” starlet Emma Roberts are solidly on Team Jacob. Fans have the opportunity to see the highly anticipated film this Friday when “New Moon” goes in wide-release in theaters around the world. Here’s a sneak peek of the film that will be number one at the box office next weekend, twilightthemovie.com. Count me on Team Edward for “New Moon!”
Britney Spears is not winning over fans Down Under. While on her Australian concert tour, she has been getting bashed by critics in the media and fans have reportedly walked out in the middle of her performances due to her lip-syncing. I’ve never felt Britney was a great singer, but fans have loved her on stage antics for years, so John Mayer even waltzed into the controversy this week when he tweeted the following, “If you're shocked that Britney was lip-syncing at her concert and want your money back, life may continue to be hard for you.” Whatever that means, I soon figured out why fans are complaining, when some being interviewed admitted to paying as much as $200 per ticket. Maybe that’s the problem. Who would pay that much for Britney Spears to sing, oops, I mean lip-sync to them? Maybe some of these fans need to go to a Tony Bennett or Celine Dion concert? Maybe it’s just me?
Some good news for Brangelina. On the heels of the tell-all book that was released about the pair, the author made many claims and even painted Angelina as a very aggressive and vindictive woman who set out to get Jennifer Aniston’s husband and now Brad fears being cheated on by Jolie with another woman. The couple has been amazing and smart not to encourage the drama of the book roll-out by denying anything or stating their rebuttal. News came that 70-year-old actor John Voight and his daughter Angelina have broken their impasse of seven years and they are apparently speaking again. Good for them.
For a story we should file under "The Twilight Zone" or "The X-Files," actor Randy Quaid and his wife Evi have gone on a rampage that may change their names to “Bonnie and Clyde.” The couple was arrested in Marfa, Texas, on September 24 for allegedly running out on a $10,000 hotel bill at the exclusive San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, Calif., last June.
Since the Quaids skipped four voluntary court appearances – the last one was to have been on November 2, the Santa Barbara DA was proceeding with extradition measures to bring the pair from Texas to California when they eventually posted bond on Thursday. The Quaids will now appear in court in Santa Barbara on December 15 to be arraigned on felony charges of burglary, defrauding an innkeeper and conspiracy. Authorities and the owner of the establishment have confirmed the bill has now been paid. I don’t know about you, but somehow I think Randy Quaid is doing research for an upcoming film and this will all be explained later.
In typical Sarah Palin jargon, on Monday’s upcoming episode of the “Oprah Winfrey Show,” Palin is asked by Oprah if her grandson’s father Levi Johnston will be invited for Thanksgiving dinner. After Sarah dodges the question not so artfully for minutes and her rambling goes on, Winfrey asks the question again and she gets the following answer. “It’s lovely to think that he would ever even consider such a thing,” the former Alaska governor tells Winfrey. I’m sure her core supporters will know exactly what that means, but I’m trying my best to read “Going Rogue” and I’m equally as confused and mystified by almost everything she says in her new book. Though it seems to me, she states she's a victim at least a hundred times in it. Maybe I’ve been lied to for decades about my IQ or maybe it’s code-speak that only 20 percent of Americans can understand her precisely and perfectly. Good luck to Ms. Palin, who also hints to Oprah she’d like to have her own talk show. Again, I wish her well.
Congratulations to handsome and talented Josh Duhamel and his beautiful wife Fergie for successfully ignoring nasty rumors about their marriage made by someone who seems more interested in getting her name in print. When someone becomes successful and has a high-profile, many people out of jealousy and envy attack you in order to get their names in print, because they lack the talent Josh has as an actor and his being the superior human being those of us who know him knows he is, and Fergie, who is a respected singer, beautiful lady and all around great person, I say Josh and Fergie, take my advice and hang in there. Your friends know who you are and we know the truth. Remain calm, keep your head up high and trust me, I learned all this for myself. Those who know you, know who you are and those who print lies just to try to become famous and end up looking like the losers they are and will soon be forgotten. Keep on singing Fergie, you Black Eyed Pea! For all the nasty headlines about the handsome star, lets detail what films Josh is currently working on: “The Romantics,” “When in Rome,” “What’s He Got?,” “Ramona and Beezus” and “Life as We Know It.” Amazing how many positive things he’s doing while others try to defame his character.
Have a great week and go out and see “New Moon.” If you don’t like leaving the house, check out Emmy-winning actress Betty White this week as she returns as Ann Douglas on CBS’s “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
Love and xoxo!
Special thanks to Rainbow Films for the beautiful photo of Tanna Frederick in “Irene in Time.”
