HOLLYWOOD—This week in Hollywood, there was a bit more news about Tiger Woods and also Oscar buzz about Matt Damon’s performance in “Invictus.” There were other surprises as well. CBS announced that it will be cancelling the daytime television drama “As The World Turns” and fans are outraged, we learned how Michael Jackson’s kids spent Thanksgiving and lots more.
Speaking with Eileen Fulton recently, we learned that she’d be performing at the swanky Manhattan Club in the Theatre district, “Don’t Tell Mama.” Her two performances were incredibly entertaining and both sold out. Many stars attended and some of her costars from “As The World Turns” were on hand. Early in the week CBS announced its decision to cancel the wonderful drama that has been on air for 54 years. Fans are rightly outraged and stunned by the decision. “ATWT” is perhaps one of the best dramas on the air and the soap genre needs to continue and deserves the support of networks, which it hasn’t been getting for over a decade now. Eileen Fulton tells Canyon News, “I’m shocked and then again, I’m not. I think it’s sad. This show I’ve been on since 1960 has a large fan base and I think the network needed to give us more time.” “ATWT” devotees agree. Fans have started an online petition at http://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/as-the-world-turns-petition/.
Nicky Hilton, who is the younger sister of Paris Hilton, was hit by burglars in her Hollywood Hills home earlier this week. The beauty who runs a clothing business was not home at the time and the investigation of this incident is ongoing by the LAPD.
Her sister Paris has been burglarized several times and the teenage bandits allegedly involved have been arrested and are awaiting trial.
Nicolas Cage’s ex Christina Fulton filed a lawsuit in LA Superior Court this week claiming Cage did not sign over the title to a home he gave her when they were together. Fulton is the mother of Cage’s son Weston. Fulton claims Cage inflicted her with “mental, physical and emotional abuse” during their relationship which ended 15 years ago. Fulton is asking for $13 million. This is the latest in Nic Cage’s drama, which includes having homes foreclosed over the past months and he has also filed a lawsuit against his former business manager Sam Levin claiming he’s responsible for Cage’s financial situation.
Tiger Woods has not come out this week any better in the PR department than he did last week. With endorsement deals cooling, his wife Elin reportedly purchasing a $2 million estate in her homeland of Sweden and many more questions surfacing about the accident he was involved with two weeks ago. Now Tiger’s mother-in-law Barbro Holmberg has shown up on the scene. In the early morning hours of Tuesday, Elin Woods called 911 to report her mother had collapsed and was suffering from stomach pains. Ms. Holmberg was released from the same hospital Tiger Woods was taken to earlier and is said to be fine now. If Tiger thought talk show hosts like Nancy Grace and Jane Velez-Mitchell on HLN were giving him a hard time, just imagine having your mother-in-law fly in from Sweden during the toughest week of your life? How in the world will he explain the 10 alleged mistresses to mama? Despite having over a billion dollars, this is one time I am glad to not be Tiger Woods. On Friday, Tiger Woods made the following statement. "After much soul searching, I have decided to take an indefinite break from professional golf," Woods said. "I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and person." Woods, who has not been seen in public since the vehicle accident also said, "I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children," Woods said. "I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I've done, but I want to do my best to try." Michael Jackson’s kids Prince, Paris and Blanket who are now practicing Jehovah’s Witnesses along with the other members of the Jackson clan apparently didn’t celebrate Thanksgiving the same way most of us did. The Jackson grand-kids were all treated to a huge hotel room in Las Vegas where they played basketball, danced and sang for the camera. Soon one of the Jacksons decided to post the video on You Tube. Many Jackson watchers see that the Jackson family appears to be making sure the kids live much like they did with their late father. Here’s a look at the Jackson family Thanksgiving celebration. Alexa Ray Joel, who is the daughter of supermodel Christie Brinkley and musical legend Billy Joel was apparently so distraught over a breakup with her on-again-off-again boyfriend that she took a number of pills, then called 911 to ask for help. Christie and Billy Joel both arrived at the Manhattan hospital to be by their beautiful daughter’s side, and Alexa is now resting at her father’s estate on Long Island. Here’s hoping the young singer gets well and is her old self again very soon.
Good news for Taylor Lautner fans. Paramount Studios confirms that 17-year-old Lautner is attached to bring to life Max Steel, an animated superhero and action figure from Mattel. With fans still going to his current hit “New Moon,” the fact that the film, based on the life of Max Steel, has no director yet is not worrisome or urgent. Paramount is already talking to several candidates and some high-end directors are being called in for meetings.
Hunter Tylo wed Gersson Archila in a private ceremony attended by family and friends, the actress announced to the press. “Gersson and I were married on November 29,” said Tylo. “God has blessed me in the most special of ways. God has redeemed my life and future. My season of sadness has ended. We are a very happy family. I welcome your blessings and well wishes!” Tylo has three children; Chris, Izabella and Katya. Her son, Michael Tylo, Jr. [Mickey] tragically died in 2007 at age 19, when he drowned due to a seizure disorder. Through her own personal difficulties Tylo has found a way to help others. She is on the Board of Directors of Retinoblastoma International and is a spokesperson for The American Epilepsy Outreach Foundation. She also heads up her own charity, "Hunter's Chosen Child."
Victoria Principal may be a race car driver and a skin care mogul, but the Former “Dallas” star who was Pamela Barnes Ewing on the hit ‘80s drama has signed up to take a ride in the world’s first commercial passenger spacecraft, the VSS Enterprise, which was unveiled Monday in the Mojave Desert by space pioneers Sir Richard Branson and Burt Rutan. Word is that each participant pays $20,000 for the flight. I suppose the economy is actually improving, at least in Hollywoodland.
Be safe shopping for holiday presents and remember our troops overseas. Have a great week, XOXO!
