BEVERLY HILLS—This week in Hollywoodland was a hectic one. The week started out with actress, singer LeAnn Rimes being called a stalker by her friend Eddie Cibrian’s wife. LeAnn and Eddie did a movie together and it’s been reported that they had a short fling afterwards. LeAnn’s publicist stated that she would not fight with Cibrian’s wife in public and that she’d handle this situation with dignity and class. That means she’s keeping her mouth shut.

The Learning Channel or (TLC), as it is often called, continued winning in the ratings with their series "Jon and Kate Plus 8." The show which features the couple and their eight kids is under fire by children’s rights advocates and now even the Humane Society. Jon Gosselin was quoted as saying his kids abuse their German Shepherd dogs and seemed almost joking about it. That has landed him in hot water with animal rights groups which stated that parents should teach their young children how to handle pets and that includes those on TV and may be famous. While the Gosselin marriage is in shambles, fans and viewers of their hit show are watching as they hope the marriage continues to implode before their very eyes. It’s a shame there are eight underage children involved in this. But that’s the state of reality TV today.

Tori Spelling had a birthday party for her 1-year-old daughter Stella. The Lady Bug themed party was attended by many of Tori’s friends and her husband Dean as well. But the no show for the party was Tori’s mother Candy, who had previously said she would be attending. Candy and Tori are locked in a mother/daughter battle over the Spelling estate and also comments each has made in their memoirs about the other. Tori became famous on her father Aaron Spelling’s hit show in the '90s “Beverly Hills 90210.” Friends of the Spelling family feel this is a very tough time for the ladies and hope that they can work things out.

My friend, author John O’Dowd is a man of firsts. He wrote one of the best books on a golden era star, Barbara Payton a couple years ago. His book was so good it should be made into a movie. Payton was perhaps one of the most troubled and talented actresses of her era. O’Dowd captured the essence of her life in his tome. Now he does it again. This time John O’Dowd gets superstar Diane Jordan to talk openly about her career. A sampling of the story goes as follows; “For the first time, Diane Jordan shares the story of what her life was like as a struggling young singer in Nashville, where the promises made to her often rang hollow, and the brass ring remained just beyond her grasp.” If that doesn’t make you curious nothing will. John’s story is posted online at: hollywoodstarletbarbarapayton.com/jordan/. And trust me, it’s a page turner indeed.

You realize you are getting older with news that Johnny Depp turned 46 this week. The young star epitomizes great acting and tough choices in the films he makes and is still one of the most popular lasting icons of the 20th Century. Seems like just yesterday we were watching Johnny in “21 Jump Street.” It’s been over two decades. Shall I say more?

Kate Winslet stunned her Hollywood friends when she recently admitted that she has decided not to hire a chef or a nanny. That she wants her kids to grow up normal. Winslet has tried desperately to do just that. Which is why she only arrives in Hollywood to work, while choosing the British countryside to raise her family. She further states, “I want my kids to grow up away from the Hollywood bubble.” Smart lady!

Miley Cyrus has been hanging out with her little sister Noah a lot lately. She’s been seen several times at YogurTree in L.A. Seems her boyfriend Justin Gaston broke up with her after she has been spending a lot of time with former boyfriend Nick Jonas on several projects together. Gaston’s reps state, “That’s not the reason.” But everything is coming up roses for Miley, who is returning to another season of “Hannah Montana” in the fall.

And despite the rumors that my friend Leonardo DiCaprio has broken up with his beautiful supermodel girlfriend Bar Refaeli, they’ve been seen all over Hollywood together this week, including two stops at Barnes and Noble Book Store in Hollywood. Wonder if they were picking up my latest book? "The Prints of Classic Hollywood" is available at bookstores and on Amazon.

If you want to take a chance at getting a free signed copy, purchase this week’s issue of The National Examiner Magazine. The publication that is the sister publication of Globe and National Enquirer will be giving away several free signed copies to their readers. Thank you, AMI for your continued support.

And if you thought the life of Britney Spears was a circus. Prepare for this: the pop princess will be going Down Under later this year. As a first in her career, the singer will hit the road in Australia. Her Circus tour starts on November 6 in Perth. She’ll then play six shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. G’Day Mate!

And for more good news. When Lindsay Lohan was leaving London over the weekend with her girlfriend Samantha Ronson, who she recently broke up with, she was wearing a diamond ring on her finger. But that was not in sight when the couple landed at LAX on Monday. Lindsay is a smart young lady and knows that any engagement rumors will make her even more interesting to her audience and fans. But here’s hoping the young lady finally finds some peace and happiness in her life.

And after a little accident on the set of her latest film, Angelina Jolie is back to work on the film entitled “Salt.” The thriller has been filming in both NYC and Washington, D.C. Brad showed up last week to visit her on the set and didn’t come with any of the six kids. Jolie’s thriller is due out July of 2010. A set insider tells Canyon News, “The couple looks like they are still completely in love.”

Until next week, stay safe.
