Tippi Hedren's 80th Birthday Gift, Exclusive Interview
Posted by Tommy Garrett on Jan 17, 2010 - 9:14:57 PM

HOLLYWOOD So, what does one do to celebrate an 80th birthday? In January 2010, Tippi Hedren has decided to follow her daughter’s [Melanie Griffith] lead by getting a tattoo to celebrate her 80th. The tattoo is a replica of the pin that Alfred Hitchcock gave her when he informed her that he had chosen her to play the role of Melanie Daniels in the now film classic “The Birds.”

“I love Melanie’s ‘Antonio in a heart’ tattoo, so I just decided to get one as well,” Tippi tells Canyon News. “The original pin is 18 karat gold with beautiful seed pearls from Gump’s in San Francisco and represents such a defining moment in my life, it seemed like the perfect choice.”

“I've decided this birthday is going to be all about me,” laughs Tippi. There will be a public celebration on January 17, at the Magic Castle as she is featured in their next and very popular Legend Series. Patrons and fans, who would like an opportunity to get up close and personal with the Hitchcock blonde can purchase a $25 ticket for the evening with all proceeds benefiting The Roar Foundation and Shambala.Org. Her daughter, Melanie Griffith and son-in-law, Antonio Banderas are planning a private party as well for close friends and family.

“It is really comforting as I grow older to see that impatience decreases and I don’t let the little things in life bother me as much,’ remarks Tippi. “I see the humor in almost everything.” For fans who want to attend, space is limited.

WHEN: Sunday, January 17, 2010 - 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. - An Evening of Q&A with Tippi Hedren

WHERE: The Magic Castle, 7001 Franklin Ave., Hollywood, CA 90028

TICKETS: $25 for non-members, by calling 323-851-3313 x434

The Castle has also announced that the Legend Series will highlight the career of Tony Curtis on Sunday, January 31, with a 4 p.m. screening of “Some Like It Hot” with Q&A to follow with Mr. Curtis and book signing in The Inner Circle at the Magic Castle [Members $10 and Non-Members $20]
