BEVERLY HILLS—This week in Hollywoodland, “True Blood” is down to one more episode, with tomorrow night’s season finale titled “And When I Die” being the end of the fourth season of the hit HBO series, which has spellbound millions of TV viewers beyond imagination. As always, the stories tend to deal with the character of Sookie Stackhouse, and this finale is no exception. However, there is an exception you had better be prepared for this weekend. Viewers will be mesmerized, entertained but also frustrated at the end of the season, because we have to wait months before we find out how it all plays out. Canyon News loves to engage our readers and find out their feelings about what has transpired over the past season, and you will read some of their opinions, hopes and expectations for Sunday night.
Vampire King Bill Thought His War With Marnie Was Over

As “And When I Die” begins on Sunday night, it’s Samhain, Wicca’s greatest holy day, and spirits of the dead surface in Bon Temps. Some of them will be benevolent and others malevolent. But many will offer Sookie valuable allies to combat Marnie’s newest incarnation.
Lafayette’s latest medium encounter imperils his relationship with Jesus, and it may end in utter disaster for at least one other main character on the series. But there will also be other triangles causing great stress for residents of Bon Temps, when Jason (Ryan Kwanten) finds confession is good for the soul, but not the body! Ouch! Did Hoyt really do that?
Alcide makes a heartfelt appeal to the woman he loves, Sookie! What is it about Ms. Stackhouse that has every male member of the state of Louisiana lust after her? We may find out sooner than you think. And it’s not her fairy blood either.
Terry (Todd Lowe) receives an unexpected visitor at Merlotte’s, and this new character will kick off a heck of an exciting storyline for the fifth season. Though there may be at least one happy and stable couple in town. Sam and Luna (Janina Gavankar) envision a storybook ending. Though we know on “True Blood” nothing is so easy. For once, Nan (Jessica Tuck) wears out her welcome with Bill and Eric. What a surprise, huh? Viewers are as sick of her as they are of Tara’s whining about being a victim of vampires.
However, all things will change on Sunday night, when Debbie confronts Sookie and Tara (Rutina Wesley) with deadly consequences for at least one of the show’s core characters. But the theme for the night will be the denizens of Bon Temps preparing to brace for a new crisis with a familiar face.
“And When I Die” was written by Raelle Tucker and directed by Scott Winant. “True Blood” was created by Alan Ball; based on the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris; executive producers, Alan Ball and Gregg Fienberg; co-executive producers, Brian Buckner, Mark Hudis, Raelle Tucker, Nancy Oliver and Alexander Woo; associate producer, Christina Jokanovich.
Season four’s finale airs on Sunday night at 9 p.m. exclusively on HBO.
However, the most important part of “True Blood” are the fans who love this show and make it so popular. No series would be where “True Blood” has gone without the most amazing fans on the planet. And it’s an honor that so many of them are Canyon News readers. I spoke with several of them over the past few days to find out what their hopes and dreams are for Sunday night’s gripping episode. Jeff in Melbourne, Australia said, “As much as the finale of each ‘True Blood’ season thrills me, I am simultaneously filled with dread at knowing there’s such a long wait following until the next season begins. Andy (Chris Bauer) is such a loveable dud. Everything he touches turns to crap and his ongoing frustration at his own failure is hilarious. The way he growls even when he is trying to be polite keeps me coming back for more. He’s such a train wreck in slow-motion that I just have to keep watching.” When pressed about which storyline Jeff would love to see come to a conclusion, he said, “The Hoyt/Jessica ‘thing’ needs to come to a head and be over with. Eric needs to gain back his rightful place in the scheme of things because when he's in charge, in every shadow lurks the possibility of the next great terror or the next touching moment. Bill will never be as good as Eric. They could both polish something but somehow, Eric’s would always be shinier.”
Eric Showed Marnie Roy's Heart, Which He Ripped Out Bare-handed

Jackie M. in Washington, D.C. is as excited about the ending as she has been all season. “Tommy, I am on pins and needles waiting for the finale! But, so sad that we have to wait so long for more. It seems like it was just getting really juicy! I think (Alcide) was the character of last week’s episode. He is always the hero but never gets appreciated the way he should be. (Jesus) wins for strangest method of saving the day and that is really saying something in Bon Temps,” said Jackie while laughing.
Kim in Alabama is a bit jittery when it comes to Sunday night’s action-packed conclusion. “Yes Tommy, I’m definitely excited about the season finale and a little spooked by it too! I sure hope (Lafayette) is able to cough up Marnie before she does even more damage. Yikes! I must admit Marnie has been full of surprises. There’s more to her than I originally thought. She’s been a real trial and tribulation.” When asked which storyline she’s ready to see conclude on Sunday, Kim didn’t hesitate, “I’m ready to see the last of dear old Debbie. Alcide deserves so much better. Let her run far, far away and never come back. Next season, if things don’t work out with Sookie and either Bill or Eric, maybe she could give Alcide a chance? He’s a good guy who obviously cares for her and he is so easy on the eyes!” Kim may be in for a surprise tomorrow night.
Cheryl in West Virginia is excited, even after seeing Sam Trammell (Sam) and William Sanderson (Bud) at the Gettysburg Horror convention last weekend. “You know, Tommy, the finale is bittersweet. I want to see how the writers conclude the season and yet the thought of waiting nine months for season five is almost unbearable. But, yes, I am excited to view the finale to see what delicious things Alan Ball and his talented writers have conjured up for us fans. And, of course, there will be a cliffhanger that will keep us abuzz until the premiere of season five.”
She had a quick answer for what storyline she’d like to see conclude. “I suppose I would like to have the main storyline from this season, the witches, come to a conclusion. For the new season I trust the imagination and talent of the writers to surprise me with a thrilling storyline. I have a feeling that Alcide and Sookie will be getting more friendly and perhaps there will be some faeries showing up in Bon Temps. I’d like to see Jessica and Bill Compton continue to expand their relationship as maker and progeny,” said Cheryl D. “Fiona Shaw did an excellent job portraying (Marnie) and leading the normally benevolent Wiccans into a whirlwind of misguided evil. I would also like to mention that Brit Morgan held her own this season portraying Debbie Pelt. How could I not recognize that Sam Trammell was on top of his game this season especially when he portrayed (Tommy as Sam)? Todd Lowe also gave us some memorable scenes. Sorry, it is simply not fair to ask such a question considering the talented cast. Stephen Moyer has always been amazing as Bill Compton and Kristin Bauer van Straten delivers those sharp tongued lines with ease and believability. I guess I’d better stop or I’ll just go on and on about the talent on the show! Let’s not forget that Marcia DeRousse brought us a few moments of great comedy when Dr. Ludwig made another appearance on the show this season.”
Nicole in NYC has been engrossed in the “True Blood” drama these past few months as well. “I am very excited about the finale. I am dreading it in a way as I don’t want the season to end.” She also is ready for Tara and Debbie to come to an end, and may get her wish on Sunday night. “My favorite characters from last week’s episode were Jason and Jesus. Jason really stepped up his game personally and for his sister. He stood up for Sookie when everyone else was complaining and saved the vampires from the protection spell/ring around Moon Goddess. He also finally surrendered to his feelings for Jessica, which was eventually going to happen, and was a lot better them him asking her to glamour him to not feel his guilt as any typical guy would,” concluded Nicole.
Alcide Pours His Heart And Soul Out To Sookie

Bobby in Alabama is beside himself over the conclusion tomorrow night. “Tommy, I’m very excited over this finale, more so than the others in the past. This will leave viewers hanging by our fingernails for months before our favorite show returns. Unlike many others, I hate to see any of this season’s storylines wrapped up. My favorite character this season has been Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis). The actor outdid his normally excellent performances in past seasons. He is the definite standout this season. He showed what a wonderful actor he really is when the ghost of the woman who had lost her baby entered his body. He actually became her. The transformation was remarkable. Any man can act like a woman, but Mr. Ellis showed what a true actor can do. Deborah Ann Woll as Jessica has showed real grit as an actress this season. I hope they will continue to give her better parts. She was wonderful in her part this season.”
