'True Blood' Necromancy In Hollywoodland
Posted by Tommy Garrett on Aug 7, 2011 - 11:59:58 PM

BEVERLY HILLS—This week in Hollywoodland, the mega popular HBO supernatural vampire series “True Blood” takes on a drastic new twist and turn that will leave the three major characters Bill, Sookie and Eric forever changed. The spirit of a 400-year-old Spanish witch named Antonia has possessed the body of the Wicca leader Marnie in Bon Temps, and her revenge is just beginning. My friend Joshua Morrow, who portrays Nick Newman on CBS’s “The Young and the Restless,” gave me permission to show readers his exclusive home video, a “CSI” hunk tied the knot, the “Today Show” unveiled Vanity Fair’s picks for the best dressed in Hollywood, Mark Teschner celebrated a birthday and Leo DiCaprio was named Hollywood’s top film star.

On Sunday night’s upcoming episode of “True Blood” titled “Cold Grey Light of Dawn,” look for the necromancer Antonia to exert even more power than she has already. She’s cast spells on the 1,000-year-old Viking vampire Eric Northman, his progeny Pam and last week on 400-year-old Catholic priest vampire Father Luis, who was the one who figured out that Antonia has inhabited the body of the Wicca leader Marnie.

Spoiler alert for Sunday night! With Marnie (Fiona Shaw) empowered by spirits of the dead, King Bill Compton of Louisiana (Stephen Moyer) issues an unpopular order to save vampires from the light. Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) embraces his amnesia, Luna (Janina Gavankar) discovers Sam (Sam Trammell) is not the man she thought he was, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) expands his consciousness after his tryst in Mexico, Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) gets a body peel, Andy’s (Chris Bauer) date with Holly (Lauren Bowles) doesn’t go as planned, Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) has doubts about her future with Hoyt (Jim Parrack); Alcide (Joe Manganiello) and Debbie (Brit Morgan) join a new pack, and trouble follows.

“Cold Grey Light of Dawn” was written by Alexander Woo and directed by Michael Ruscio. For an exclusive sneak peek, check out the video!

Casting Guru Mark Teschner

Congratulations to the 44-year-old actor who plays hunky goofball Nick Stokes on the hit CBS drama “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.” He tied the knot with Monika Casey. And a special happy birthday goes out to my friend Mark Teschner, who is a four-time Emmy Award-winning casting director for ABC’s “General Hospital,” ABC Network and many other projects, including films. Mark is one of the nicest guys in Tinseltown and last week Mark celebrated his 21st birthday with his beautiful wife Lisa and their adorable and very intelligent daughter Amelia. All right, Mark may not be 21, but he sure looks it, says his “General Hospital” actress and Beverly Hills socialite Constance Towers, who portrays Helena on the soap. “Can you think of anyone else in this town who has Sinatra’s blue-eyes like Mark has? He’s not only handsome and talented, but the most charming and one of the most gracious men I know,” said Towers.

Speaking of handsome gentlemen, my friend Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman, “The Young and the Restless”) and his stunning wife Tobe shared a home video with me on Friday, including their three handsome sons, Cooper, Crew and Cash. I’d say these three tykes are in the running for giving Justin Bieber a run for his money, and Tobe is more beautiful than Beyoncé and I’d say a more talented singer as well! Joshua, of course, had a very successful band before he married his beautiful wife Tobe. Here are exclusive photographs of their family vacation in Mexico last year that Joshua shared only with Canyon News: canyon-news.com/artman2/publish/On_the_Industry_1168/Soap_Star_Joshua_Morrow_s_Summer_Vacation.php

Take a look at the next up-and-coming family musical group. The “Jackson Five” have nothing on the “Morrow Five.” Thanks to Joshua and Tobe for sharing so many of their great memories in the making with our readers. Now you see why Joshua is my favorite “Y&R” leading man!

Hollywood's Top Leading Man DiCaprio

Here’s a sneak peek at last week’s “Today Show” unveiling of Vanity Fair magazine’s best dressed in Tinseltown. Leave it to Matt and Ann to get all the exclusives on their groundbreaking NBC morning show: today.msnbc.msn.com/id/44001016/ns/today-style/t/crowned-heads-crowd-celebs-vanity-fairs-best-dressed-list/

And lastly, Leo DiCaprio made the list of top paid actor in Hollywood this week. The handsome star of the upcoming Clint Eastwood film “J. Edgar,” which co-stars my friend Ary Katz, worked harder than most other leading men in films last year, and it sure paid off. He topped out at $77 million in 2010, which included his “Shutter Island” and “Inception.” Johnny Depp landed at number two at the $50 million mark and in third place was Adam Sandler, who ranked in at $40 million, according to Forbes. Will Smith took the fourth place slot with an estimated $36 million. Tom Hanks came in fifth place, earning $35 million. I’m keeping my spot on this elite list of leading men a secret. The only one that knows other than me is Forbes magazine, and they promised not to release that information.

Have a great weekend, see you next week! XOXO
