Hollywood Sunnyside Up

The play "Legends" came to a screeching halt when Joan Collins claimed that her costar, Linda Evans, injured her wrist and knee during the famous stunt scene where the two have a cat fight, as they did in the eighties on the ABC hit drama "Dynasty." Joan is always a professional and very easy to work with. It came to everyone's shock when Evans through her manager claimed "Collins is the most unprofessional actress in Hollywood." Joan could not help being injured, she is after all an actress and not a stunt woman in this town. Evans was a bit excited during many of her cat fight scenes on "Dynasty" and Joan complained then of being injured. Maybe these two ladies would do well not to work together in the future. Both attractive and talented, the divas can find work away from one another.
CBS's "B&B" made a terrible mistake by bringing on the AI cast off Constantine; a major disaster. The guy is hideous to look at, doesn't even look clean, his hair is greasy and have you seen his acting? He is not going to last on "B&B" much longer the way he looks and acts. I hope that the producers see the error of their ways and soon. One good thing has come out of it; Kyle Lowder, the blonde haired talented young man looks like Gary Cooper in contrast to Constantine. It's not the guy's fault, he's just not talented enough or handsome enough to be on a show with leading men like Ronn Moss, Kyle Lowder, William DeVry and Jack Wagner. It's a mistake that can be fixed easily. Let Constantine get a deal that takes him out of LA and to Detroit. Maybe he could use some of the oil in his hair to save the environment.
Good luck to Rosie O'Donnell who had her final meltdown on the May 23 episode of "The View." Her split screen battle with co host Elisabeth Hasselbeck gave Elisabeth the upper hand when she was being attacked by Rosie. Let it be a lesson to bullies out there: sooner or later you bite off a bit more than you can chew and the public turns on you. The media has been bashing Elisabeth for months now, always taking Rosie's side. Rosie has increasingly become vicious in her attacks and arrogant in taking on every topic. It's really a hard thing to decide what to rant about. Rosie had no clue that the public felt they had enough of her bullying and enough of her feeling that she could tear everyone else down and get away with it. Fifty three percent of TV Guide readers polled said they were on Elisabeth's side. That would never have happened had Rosie picked her battles more carefully. A lesson to those who take up a bogus story or attack a person for the sake of doing so, it sometimes backfires. We'll see more of this in the future. Just look out!
Daytime Emmys are coming up on Friday, June 15 live from The Kodak Theater in Hollywood. Lead Actress nominees are all worthy. But Jeanne Cooper is due this award. This may be her final nomination. So it would be grand to see her win. If she doesn't her "Y&R" costar Michelle Stafford would be a great second choice. The Lead Actor category is tough as well. Hopefully the winner will be Peter Bergman, who has done sensational work as Jack Abbott on "Y&R" and his costar Christian LeBlanc would be a great second choice. Though the favorite to win is Anthony Geary, "Luke" from General Hospital. This would be his sixth such win. Supporting Actresses are really not that outstanding. Other than "B&B's" Lesli Kay, no one stands out in this category. It would be a hoot to see Genie Francis, "Laura" from General Hospital, win after her short few days stint on the show last year commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Luke and Laura wedding, which made television history. The Supporting Actor award should go to Kristoff St. John, "Neil" from The Young & the Restless or his costar Greg Rikaart, for his deliciously devious role as Kevin Fisher on the show. Younger Actress nods are also very hot with critics this year. Whoever wins, that person is justly deserving of it. Same with Younger Actor. Even though my favorite would be Bryton McClure, "Devon" from The Young & the Restless. But all of his fellow nominees are winners too. Oustanding Directing belongs to CBS's "As The World Turns." Oustanding writing belongs to CBS's "The Young & the Restless." Oustanding Drama Series also belongs to "Y&R" and the Emmy reel they submitted is the best they have done in years. The Genoa City ice storm was filled with shock, drama, humor and tragedy. A perfect selection for a daytime drama.
Honored this year will be none other than Lee Phill Bell. An honor to this daytime pioneer is a long time coming. We will honor Lee on June 17 in this column, along with others that make daytime what it is today.
