Electronic Entertainment Expo Blows Into Town
Posted by Kristina Levsky on May 21, 2004 - 9:33:00 PM

LOS ANGELES—On May 11, the 10th Annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), blew into town with new adventures and savings for video game lovers and electronics connoisseurs alike, unveiling new games, slashing

prices and proving that this is the year of the handhelds and portables.

Sony PlayStation unveiled the highly anticipated portable which will hit the North American market sometime in 2005. This particular portable device will offer games, video and music. PlayStation has announced that its most popular PlayStation 2 will be reduced to $150.

Nintendo's treasure is a dual screen handheld. Scheduled for release by the end of the year, this device will display the game on one of the screens, with a location map on the other. It promises to be backwards compatible, meaning you can play all of your Gameboy games on it as well. A fairly new start-up called Tap Wave will unleash a game/PDA. This multi-design device, called Zodiac, combines games and an organizer in one.

To kick off the event, Sony PlayStation threw a star-studded bash at the historic Belasco Theater in downtown Los Angeles, giving guests a chance to experience some of its pre-released games and to hear tunes from Iggy Pop and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
