The Gift That Keeps On Giving
Posted by Kristina Levsky on Sep 1, 2003 - 7:38:00 PM
LOS ANGELES—“It’s Gotta Be Hear Somewhere” was a fundraiser heard by many, bringing the soon-to-be Show and Tell Foundation a little closer to its goal of raising enough money for a wonderful new program at Hollygrove, a Los Angeles Orphans Home Society established in 1880.
On August 19, various accomplished musicians donated their talents to a truly worthy cause: a documentary storytelling program, developed by freelance editor and director Sue Wolf, to teach young children to create and preserve memories with digital equipment.

Headlined by guitarist/songwriter, Hollye Leven, a makeshift band of some of the most talented and accomplished musicians performed a number of sultry rock and roll tunes that had the crowd going for more than an hour. All proceeds from the event will benefit The Show and Tell Group, which, with a little more help, could be up and running by fall.
The program will be a much needed addition to Hollygrove, a residential treatment program and home for abused and neglected children, currently housing 68 children ages six to 13, and providing services annually to nearly 300 more.
After-school programs and extracurricular activities are fundamental in shaping the development and self-esteem of young kids. The Show and Tell Group would not only act as an educational program, teaching kids how to use editing equipment to create movies and a video yearbook, but would also give them something to be proud of, pass on to others, and look back on many years down the road. In many ways, this program and the donations that will help its realization are gifts that will keep on giving long after we have forgotten taking out our wallets.
A few more generous, tax-deductible donations can help buy the necessary equipment, including a Macintosh computer, a video camera and some sound equipment, that would bring this program into fruition.
