HOLLYWOOD—Hollywood celebrities flocked to London by private jets and yachts taking over the British capital to get the gold-medal parties started. Some of the A-listers that descended to party were Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, George Clooney and his girlfriend Stacey Keibler, Nicole Kidman, Michael Douglas and Catherine-Zeta Jones. David and Victoria Beckham and Prince William and Kate Middleton are some of the elite expected to hit the glorious champagne-soaked parties. Of course, it wouldn’t be a party in England without a little help from the Beatles; Sir Paul McCartney was also on hand. Some of the world’s wealthiest industrialists wanted to throw their weight around as well by showing up in yachts. Paul Allen, better known as the co-founder of Microsoft, docked his 414-foot luxury liner and will remain there for the duration of the Games, according to published reports. Bill Gates, fellow co-founder, also docked his yacht. Let’s not forget Russian tycoon and Chelsea soccer owner, Roman Abramovich. His massive 557-foot yacht is equipped with two swimming pools, 30 cabins, and it even has its own missile-defense system, the Daily Mail reports.

Actor Russell Brand changed his mind after dismissing the Olympic events as “propaganda,” and had a surge of pride as one of an estimated four billion people around the globe tuned in to watch the launch of the sporting spectacular. England put its faith in Oscar-winning “Slumdog Millionaire,“ director Danny Boyle, giving him a $42.3 million production budget for the successful bash. After the spectacular show opened the Olympic Games on July 27, celebrities immediately went on a twitter rampage congratulating Danny Boyle. Joe Jonas tweeted throughout the ceremony and loved to see Rowan Atkinson reprise his famed comedy character Mr. Bean. Joss Stone wrote, “God save the Queen! Watching the Olympics.” Billy Ray Cyrus wrote,” Congrats London! Let the Games begin!” Other celebrities that tweeted were Kelly Osbourne, Bruno Mars , Bette Midler and Selena Gomez.
Everyone is falling in love with England, especially fashion and home designers. If you are thousands of miles away and want to join in the spirit, Mandee’s the fashion store is one of the retailers that has British-themed shirts to get you into the British spirit. Jimmy Choo’s exclusively red-white-and-blue iconic flag brings us the Union jack collection which inspired a stylish statement on shoes, handbags, scarves and shades are a classic. The USA spirit is seen on some American athletes like Venus Williams who showed her American spirit by sporting red, white and blue patriotic braids in her hair.
Kate Middleton continues to impress us. She has been elevated to fashion royalty by Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed List. The Duchess of Cambridge epitomizes the phrase “simple, yet elegant.” Kate wears anything from an $89 dress to a $5.000 Packham floor-sweeper gown. She seems to love those Jimmy Choos. Her parents, who own the online business known as “Party Pieces,” were recently investigated for copyright infringement. They have been cleared of copyright infringement but were asked to modify their website, which included the rings, the javelin thrower and an Olympic torch. It’s the second time the family has been under fire for their business promotions, including the so called “princess” party kit they sold in advance of the royal wedding. This time an infringement of the Olympic trademark penalty could have included a fine up to $30,000.
Rose’s Scoop: Heartbroken Robert Pattinson has turned to “Water For Elephants,“ co-star Reese Witherspoon. According to People magazine, the actor has moved out of the home he shared with Kristen Stewart in light of her shocking cheating confession with director Rupert Sanders. Finally, Collin Farrell sent me an email reminding us that the Sahel region of Africa are facing a desperate shortage of food.
