Celebrity Chefs And TV Hosts!

HOLLYWOODWe are living in a celebrity-obsessed culture where image is everything. More and more women and men are feeling more self-conscious about their appearance. Everyone wants to get healthy and eat healthy. So when I bumped into celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito, who is currently promoting his latest book titled "Now Eat This! Italian: Favorite Dishes from the Real Mamas of Italy--All under 350 Calories," it was impressive. Rocco is  personable, extremely funny, flirty and honest. His book integrates healthy recipes, vivid culinary photographs and cooking tips. DiSpirito went to Italy to work on his recipes with real Italian families. I personally love the before and after calories in the 384 page inspirational cookbook.

Rocco, who is an avid fan of the group Kiss, took a job in a pizzeria at the age of 11 to pay for the group's album. I asked him ,"What is the percentage of net profit in restaurants?" "Well, it's usually 8 to 12 percent," Rocco stated. "You need to have at least 20,000 restaurants nationwide, then you will have 10% of a billion, net profit," he added.  He eventually would like to open a healthy restaurant, which he feels there is a market for. Rocco starred in the NBC reality television show "The Restaurant," which followed the launch of "Rocco's," on 22nd in Manhattan. The show was canceled, and Rocco was sued, according to reports by the restaurant's financier Jeffrey Chodorow, to have the restaurant shut down. That didn't stop DiSpirito. He hosted "Food Talk" an hour-long morning talk radio show along with hosting a TV show "Rocco Gets Real" on A&E through 2008. DiSpirito was a contestant on season seven of "Dancing with the Stars" with professional ballroom dancer Karina Smirnoff. He was eliminated on October 14, 2008.
From celebrity chefs to TV hosts, it was a busy week. Regis Philbin's new book titled "How I Got This Way" was recently released. The foreword is by Dave Letterman, and the book is fascinating: filled with stories of lessons learned. In the book, he names Howard Stern as one of his favorite neighbors. One of the most touching chapters was when he wrote about Claudia Cohen. "Regis, why did you write each chapter about a celebrity?" "I wrote about them, because they inspired me," states Regis in the book. Some of the extraordinary people you'll read about are Donald Trump, Jack Nicholson, George Clooney and more. The book is a candid look into the life of an entertainer. At the end of each chapter, there is a section on "What I took away from it all." It cleverly outlines what he learned from each experience and how he has applied it to his life and how you can learn from the experience too. Regis kept on going no matter what came along and succeeded in the end. His personality shines through the pages, and he looks better in person than on TV. He looks fabulous for someone who has been entertaining TV audiences for more than fifty years in daytime, reigning as a morning-show host. The ubiquitous TV host will be joining celebrity chef Rachel Ray in her kitchen on "The Rachael Ray Show."

Rose's Scoop: Sprinkles, the cupcakery is coming to the Grove in Los Amgeles, this November. It's their second LA location-the original is on Little Santa Monica in Beverly Hills. Sprinkles will be setting up in the space occupied by The Grove's Concierge, near the entrance to the parking lot and the escalators.
