Fame, Money, and Power!

Celebrities are often suspicious of strangers, and rightly so, for often the outsiders have insincere reasons for wanting to get close to them. Money, for example, may be the ulterior motive. Sometimes, even family can take advantage of the renowned. Money, greed, or a falling-out can be the reason why siblings do the things they do. Madonna’s brother, Christopher Ciccone, who reportedly had a falling-out with the Madge several years ago, is writing a memoir about his sister. The memoir is to be released in mid-July and is being collaborated with British journalist Wendy Leigh for Simon & Schuster. The book will have a first printing of 350,000. Ian Halperin is writing another tome, in a tell-all book about Britney Spears, according to Page Six.
There was never a doubt that David Archuleta, the 17-year-old “Idol” runner-up, would sign a deal with 19 Recordings/Jive Records. As soon as his “American Idol” tour is over, he will be busy in the studio. According to my source, if anyone is interested in booking any of the contestants of “Idol” it would set you back about six figures.
Speaking of figures, if you want to book Amy Winehouse, it would set you back $2 million for her to perform at your event. According to published reports, Roman Abramovich, who owns the Chelsea English football team and is worth a whopping $25 million, has dished out $2 million for Winehouse to perform at his socialite/girlfriend’s art gallery. Dasha Zhukova, 25, is dating the billionaire, who happens to be an astute art collector.
The video of Amy Winehouse that appeared to show the singer smoking crack cocaine, has led the police to charge a man and a woman in London with supplying drugs to the singer. London police say John Blagrove and Cara Burton have been charged with conspiracy to supply cocaine and ecstasy. The suspects were released June 12 on bail until their next court appearance on July 1.
Raising eyebrows in Hollywood is Katherine Heigl’s new movie deal. A day after she bit the hand that feeds her…lines. The announcement was made that she will star in and produce a big-screen movie about Carolyn Jessop, who helped convict polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs. The “Grey’s Anatomy” star, who won the Emmy last year for best supporting actress in a drama, withdrew her name from Emmy consideration because the show’s writers didn’t give her character, Dr. Izzie Stevens, good enough material.
Rose’s Scoop: Oprah Winfrey for the second year in a row has topped Forbes magazine’s list of most powerful celebrities, based on fame and earnings.
