Justin's World!
Posted by Rose Quintiliano and Kelly Olszuk on Sep 25, 2011 - 10:15:59 PM

HOLLYWOOD—It’s hard to believe that Ashton Kutcher is no longer the king of social media. That honor has gone to Justin Bieber - thanks mostly to his fans. He is more influential than Barack Obama or The Dalai Lama, according to published reports. Truth be told, Kutcher still touts some 7 million followers on Twitter and 10 million fans on Facebook. He definitely will charm as Charlie Sheen’s replacement on “Two and a Half Men.” However, Justin Bieber is the new King.

If it’s one person who knows about the struggles of life, it’s Justin Bieber,17, who’s life hasn’t always been picture-perfect. Reportedly, he grew up in poverty and could empathize with people who struggle, since he was raised by a single mom. Bieber was discovered on YouTube back in 2008. In June, he ranked number 2 on the Forbes list of Best-Paid Celebrities under 30. He has raked in about $53 million earned in a 12-month period. Bieber, who is dating Selena Gomez, share a common bond. Selena also suffered hardships while growing up. Perhaps that’s why the two seem perfect together. Bieber’s popularity is so huge that it has caused safety concerns. Out of control fans can sometimes scare celebrities. It was the headline that had the Beliebers around the world shocked: “Justin Bieber Attacked by Fan in New York City!”

His fans, mostly tweens and teenage girls, have in the past made death threats, personal attacks mostly to women that he was friends with, acquaintances or romantically involved with. You may recall the harsh criticism Kim Kardashian sustained when she was spotted with Justin. To protect himself from his overwhelming fans, Justin is constantly surrounded with security guards.

Bieber turned to Twitter last year, when a scheduled performance was canceled by Australian police after fans were injured in a crowd crush. He turned to Twitter and said: “I want to make this clear….I don’t cancel.” He tweeted again, “I woke up this morning to the police canceling the show for safety reasons. I’m very happy about the welcome and the love from around the world, but I want everyone to still remember my fan’s safety comes first.” Justin then scheduled a five-city tour in Australia.

Most celebrities turn to Twitter, either to connect with their fans, share candid details, or tweet to promote their latest project, interact and inspire their followers. While others can’t resist sharing their pics, others love to vent and lash out, potentially damaging their reputation and causing them to lose fans or so-called followers. Some like to travel the world and tweet about it. We all know that Twitter is the best invention next to sliced bread. It’s quite addicting. Just ask Miley Cyrus, who deactivated her Twitter account back in 2009, saying, “I want to keep my private life private.” Less than two years later, she’s back rejoining hundreds of celebs who love Twitter.

Rose’s Scoop: Chaz Bono was so popular that people who missed “Dancing With The Stars” on Sept. 19 turned to YouTube to catch a glimpse of him dancing.
