PASADENAIt was an affair to remember at the  Los Angeles International Make-UP Artist Trade Show better known as IMATS over the weekend of June 23-24, 2012. The event was held at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena. With an estimated 100 vendors plus two days of presentations, the event was enjoyable and magical. The usual exhibitors were there from our buddy Eve Pearl to Senna Cosmetics. However, missing from the two-day event was Jessie’s Girl Cosmetics.

We bumped into Eugenia Weston, founder of Senna Cosmetics, in Beverly Hills. It was one of  the most magical moments when Miss Weston introduced herself to me. Besides her cosmetics, Eugenia was actually working on eyebrows. She is known for her stencil technique in perfecting eyebrows. She is an Emmy nominated celebrity makeup artist for more than three decades. Weston designed the original Form-A-Brow stencil kit.

Make-UP Forever, NYX and Inglot were the most popular with huge lines. Inglot has beautiful palettes, with anything from two to twenty slots, which you fill with your favorite colors. You mix and match to get your dream combo. Another line that we spent time with was OCC. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics was founded by David Klasfeld and the nail polishes are simply beautiful. While the summer nail polish shades are the hot pinks, icy blues and the beautiful teals, the nightlife colors always shine to metallic nails. The pearly nudes along with the golds and marbled silvers are always a first class nail.

The museum is always a show-stopper with displays of Linda Blair from the movie “The Exorcist.” The sculptures, molds and creature suits were created by renowned artists including Rick Baker, KNB EFX Group, Spectral Motion and master sculptor Mike Hill.

The Afterglow post-show party was held in the Piazza ballroom at the Sheraton on the 23rd, where some of us met for hors d’oeuvres to mix and mingle. On the last day of the event  the highlight was the NYX Cosmetics FACE Awards held on Sunday, June 24, emceed by Perez Hilton. Perez is one of the most famous names in Hollywood in the entertainment field. Hilton began on the internet with one of the most famous gossip blogs (PerezHilton.com), which was launched in 2004. Since then, he has expanded his online empire with PerezTV.com, CocoPerez.com, FitPerez.com and TeddyHilton.com, along with his YouTube channel. As the emcee of the awards show, he was extremely witty and the audience just loved his charisma on stage. The winner of the national beauty blogger of the year on YouTube went to Charis Lincoln of CharismastarTV. She was the winner of the $25,000 grand prize. The judges included Toni K, (CCD & Founder of NYX Cosmetics),Nils Johnson, (CEO & Founder of Beautifies,)Scott Barnes, Tim Lusher and Michael Cain.

Following the award ceremony, the NYX party took place at the Piazza ballroom where Perez Hilton stopped by to take pictures and mingle with the guests; everyone just adores him. Canyon News asked: “Perez, How did you get involved with the FACE Awards?” “I was invited, and since I started on the Internet, I wanted to be involved," Perez said. When he wasn’t mingling or being snapped by photographers, he was checking his Twitter, and he was all smiles when Melissa Gorga tweeted him. Perez was in attendance at the party for about 30 minutes before he was whisked away by a security guard.

Rose’s Scoop: When in West Hollywood, we have to stop in at Millions of Milkshakes and pick up a Miley. The Miley Cyrus shake is one of the most popular.
