HOLLYWOOD—The champagne has been sipped and the Oscars are officially over. The 85th Academy Awards that took place in Hollywood on February 24 was full of thrills.

Hollywood's biggest night was golden for Daniel Day-Lewis. Does this win for Lewis at the Oscars make him the greatest film actor of all time? He made show-business history by winning for "Lincoln," becoming the first actor to win three Oscars for leading roles. Actor Jack Nicholson has three, including one for supporting actor. Robert De Niro has two Oscars, along with Dustin Hoffman. The late Marlon Brando and Spencer Tracy won two Oscars each. Day-Lewis is incredible when he does a film since he is extremely selective of his film roles. It seems he puts all his passion into the role. In the actress category, Oscar's official sweetheart is Katherine Hepburn with four best-actress wins.
Jennifer Lawrence who won for best actress in "Silver Linings Playbook," actually tripped on her beautiful gown-on the steps to the stage. Hugh Jackman, the gentleman that he is went running to assist her. A day later she dyed her hair black. Perhaps next year they could have a handsome gentleman escorting the female winners to the stage. Jersey native Anne Hathaway was trembling when she accepted her Oscar for best supporting actress in "Les Miserables." Miss Hathaway apologized for swapping the Valentino gown for the Prada gown for the Oscar's red carpet. She has a close relationship with Valentino, who designed her wedding gown, but decided to wear the Prada since her "Les Miserables," co-star Amanda Seyfried planned to wear Alexander McQueen which was similar. The gown was gorgeous, but the stiff keyhole necklace was choking. It was a bit disappointing to see her in a pale color pink that fizzled.
The fashion police loved Charlize Theron she looked stunning in a notched bodice by Christian Dior with bedazzled peplum. Naomi Watts looked a bit "Star-Trek,” yet sparkled in her Armani Prive. Stacy Keibler looked gorgeous in her art deco Naeem Khan gown. Halle Berry looked striking in her Versace custom-made gown that made jaws-drop. Nicole Kidman took to the art nouveau with her L'Wren Scott dress inspired by Gustav Klimt.
Jessica Chastain's flesh-colored gown by Armani Prive was gorgeous. I loved Amy Adam's Oscar de la Renta billowing gown. Salma Hayek decided to wear a velvet gown with a choker neckline retro 70's gown. For some reason velvet didn't seem appropriate for sunny California. What can I say about Jennifer Aniston, loved her in a strapless Valentino, only wish it was black instead of red. Reese Witherspoon looked gorgeous in a strapless Louis Vuitton number. Olivia Munn turned heads in a scarlet and gold satin gown by Marchesa. Zoe Saldana looked beautiful in an Alexis Mabille Couture fishtail gown. The gown was embellished at the bust, belted at the waist and finished with a triple-tiered slit in a power combo of black and white. Her makeup was flawless.
Meanwhile, Oscars host Seth MacFarlane, who earned some pretty bad mixed reviews, says via Twitter he had fun, but "no way," would he do it again. Even with all the controversy of all the dark humor of Seth MacFarlane's boob song, the fury of Hollywood is over the Oscar's annual In Memoriam. Someone always forgets to mention someone. Where was the tribute to the late Phyllis Diller, Larry Hagman, Andy Griffith and Marty Richards, the Oscar-winning "Chicago," producer.
Rose's Scoop: Sofia Vergara missed the Oscars, but was seen on roller skates on the LA set of "Modern Family," the very next day.
