Reality Show Ratings!

HOLLYWOOD—It’s all about ratings when it comes to TV shows, especially reality TV. One of the most controversial shows TLC has now, besides “Toddlers and Tiaras,” is “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.” The 6-year-old Alana Thompson is turning the show into a great success. Last week’s episode had 2.3 million viewers, the highest for the reality show so far, according to TLC. There is something so special about that little girl/ TLC is reportedly rushing to shoot two more episodes for the series that was originally planned to last just six hours. The paparazzi are all over that little girl, just waiting to catch a glimpse of her in front of her family’s home in McIntyre, GA.
Another reality show that is getting great ratings is “Big Ang.” I was told by an MTV source a while back that they were planning on giving Ang her own spin-off show. Honestly, I’m not surprised since everyone just loves her. Big Ang has come along way, which is great since everyone deserves a chance to succeed while given an opportunity. She has recently penned a book titled, “Bigger is Better,” which is scheduled to come out on the inauspicious date September 11. The book is filled with Big Ang’s advice on life, style, and recipes for living large or should I say living the dream. She certainly keeps busy, from “Mob Wives” to “Big Ang” to best-selling author.
I’ll just say it: I like the reality show, “Married to Jonas,” which premiered on August 19. It’s a tad different than some; it’s a cross between “Keeping up With The Kardashians” meets “Newlyweds.” Danielle Jonas comes alive and she stands up to the Jonas family. She tries to please them. However, she still has a mind of her own. In one episode, Danielle Jonas, mother of the famous Jonas brothers, acts like the typical mother-in-law, adding the finishes touches in the kitchen, (which, by the way, is very updated), to preparing dinner. Just a few years ago, the Jonas brothers were on top of the world. They had a Disney TV show, famous girlfriends, and sold-out world tours. They decided to go on hiatus to explore solo projects for a few years. You would think they lost all their luster. Think again. Last week the Jonas Brothers were stunned by ticket sales for the upcoming Radio City Music Hall show in New York in October. The tickets sold out in minutes, prompting the brothers to take to the internet and thank their fans. The brothers will play their top hits in a one night performance, as well as some of the music they’ll be releasing in 2013. It’s great that the boys are capitalizing like everyone else on the current obsession with celebrity-centric reality television. Joe Jonas is on CW’s “The Next.” Nick is in talks about joining “American Idol.” It’s quite genius, if you think about it. The Jonas family has allowed America to tune in to their way of life. While you may not care for the Jonas Brothers, “Married to Jonas,” is genuine, pure, hilarious television for Sunday nights.
On October 4, the reality show “Jersey Shore,” will begin its sixth season on MTV. One of the stars of the show, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, and Jionni Lavalle are the proud parents of Lorenzo Dominic LaValle. The 6 pound, 5 ounce baby boy was born last week at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey, according to “Jersey Shore,” network MTV. Now, it’s gym, tan”¦.Lorenzo.
Rose’s Scoop: Last week Ice-T and wife Coco took off to Cancun, Mexico, for some rest and relaxation. Finally, Jennifer Lopez last week paid tribute to the late Latin singer Selena in concert by performing one of the tragic star’s best-loved songs. Lopez landed her big break playing the title role in the 1997 biopic Selena, which chronicled the Texan singer’s rise to fame before she was murdered at age 23 by the president of her club. Lopez brought her tour to Texas and treated the audience at Dallas American Airlines Center to a touching rendition of Selena’s ballad, “No Me Queda Mas.”
Wishing everyone a safe, happy Labor Day Weekend!
