The Best Of The Rest!

HOLLYWOOD If you’re rich, you always fly first class. If you are wealthy, you charter a private jet. If you are really, really wealthy, you own a private jet. One thing is for sure, if you’re a dead music star, you still have a major drawing power. Since his death in June, his estate has made millions, even topping “The King of Rock” Elvis Presley. It is believed that he has surpassed Elvis with more than $100 million, according to Forbes magazine. If you tuned in to the American Music Awards on November 22, you witnessed Michael Jackson being honored with four music awards, making him the only artist collecting more AMAs during his career than any other artist. He also became the show’s biggest posthumous winner. If you follow the AMAs every year, you know to expect controversy, shock and awe.

Leave it to Adam Lambert, the “American Idol” runner-up to drop some jaws. After his rough performance, which left the audience and viewers speechless, the hostile complaints followed. ABC says more than 1,500 people have called in to complain about Adam Lambert’s sexually charged performance at the American Music Awards. The network characterized the response as “moderate.” The glam rocker fondled a dancer, led another around on a leash, had a dancer briefly stick his head in Lambert’s private parts and topped it off by kissing a man.

Fresh off her triumph at the Country Music Association Awards and the American Music Awards, Taylor Swift has netted a deal to create a line of greeting cards. American Greeting Cards is based in Cleveland and offered Swift the deal due to her abilities as a storyteller and songwriter, and felt that her abilities would make her a natural for writing cards for all ages. The products overseen by Swift will begin appearing in the spring. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The talk of the weekend began with the smash hit in the “Twilight” vampire series that sucked up $140.7 million in its first three days and pulled in a total of $258.8 million worldwide, according to studio estimates on November 22. The sequel revisits the dangerous romance between high school student Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart, and lovelorn vampire Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson. Stewart and Pattinson have become sex symbols whose real life romance had the teenage fans lining up outside theaters, some showing up at midnight. So far, the “New Moon” came in just behind the leader “The Dark Knight” that earned $158.4 million on its opening weekend. The third-biggest opener was “Spider-Man 3” at $151 million. “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest,” earned $136 million. Finally yet importantly, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” raking in $127.8 million. Definitely, a great weekend for Hollywood. Based on Stephanie Meyer’s books that have been a great success among women and girls. Females made up 80 percent of the audience for “New Moon.”

Johnny Depp, is one more time, People’s Sexiest Man Alive. I just can’t understand why we keeping honoring men who refuse to wash their hair regularly. And of course, Robert Pattinson’s on the list. Johnny Depp is in the elite company of Brad Pitt and George Clooney. The list includes soccer player David Beckham, the “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Gilles Marini and among many more, Adam Lambert.

Nicolas Cage money woes didn’t stop him from visiting a Kenyan prison holding suspected Somali pirates awaiting trial to highlight the problem of piracy in the Indian Ocean. Cage, who is a U.N. goodwill ambassador on drugs and crime wanted to meet with some of the suspected pirates, hear their stories and understand what is fueling the piracy off the Somali coast. The latest in the Nicolas Cage saga is that Samuel J. Levin is countersuing that Cage had been squandering his paychecks and failing to pay taxes well before he arrived on the scene. Keep in mind, Nicolas Cage’s big spending-an island, two castles, four yachts, we get it, one for each ocean.

Rose’s Scoop: Susan Boyle’s first CD, brings a refreshing, luxury to the ear. Her breakthrough and titled CD is "I Dreamed a Dream."
