Twitter, YouTube And More!

HOLLYWOOD
Hollywood celebrities turned to Twitter to voice their opinion regarding the country's government shutdown. U.S. citizens are confused, frustrated and rattled. From Sophia Bush to Kirstie Alley, some of the tweets were straightforward with total seriousness to just plain silly. The government shutdown began on October 1 and there seems to be no end in sight, as of press time.

At first there was no word from Hollywood, everyone was quiet. Actor George Clooney who is out promoting his new movie, "Gravity," told CNN, "I do think that cooler heads, as you see them starting to move around, will prevail," Clooney said. While other celebrities are losing patience with the government. It surely will be interesting to see what happens by October 17,  that is the day Treasury Secretary Jack Lew said he will begin running short of cash to pay the nation's bills unless Congress acts by that day. That would virtually raise the prospect of a default on U.S. debt.

While Twitter files to go public, YouTube has announced its first music awards show in a press release, made up entirely of artists and videos voted for by the site's users. Google, who purchased YouTube in 2006 will have performers such as Lady Gaga, Eminem and Arcade Fire, among others at the first YouTube Music Awards show on November 3. The awards show will be presented at Pier 36 in New York and will stream online. It will also stream performances from Seoul, Moscow, London and Rio culminating in a new type of awards show, where artists create new music videos in real time, live on YouTube. The Google-owned service will make the announcement of the nominees on October 17. The host of the event will be Jason Schwartzman and will be directed by “Being John Malkovich” director Spike Jonze.

Directing her second film is Hollywood A-lister Angelina Jolie who has chosen Australia in to direct her latest movie. Jolie will use Sydney and rural parts of New South Wales as locations for "Unbroken." The film, according to published reports, is based on the best-selling book by Laura Hillenbrand, which tells the story of Olympian and war hero Louis Zamperini. He and two other crewmen survived in a raft for 47 days after a WWII plane crash, only to be caught by the Japanese navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.

The book topped the New York Times bestseller list for more than 146 consecutive weeks and is one of the best-selling, non-fiction titles since the list began back in 1942. According to published reports, the film will star Jack O' Connell as Louis Zamperini, as well as rising stars Garrett Hedlund, Domhnall Gleeson and Finn Wottrock. The movie "Unbroken," follows other  movie successes, that were filmed in New South Wales including; "The Wolverine," “The Great Gatsby," and "Lego." According to the Universal Pictures production, the movie is expected to create 300 jobs excluding cast and extras. You might recall Jolie's first film as director was in "The Land Of Blood And Honey," a love story set against the backdrop of a time of war in the former Yugoslav republic of  Bosnia Herzegovina.

Angelina Jolie is not the first actress to turn director, two-time Oscar-winning actress Jodie Foster also directed three films; 1991's "Little Man Tate," 1995's "Home For the Holidays," and 2011's "The Beaver." Foster, who split from her longtime partner and co-parent Cydney Bernard in 2008, is reportedly dating photographer and sometime-actress Alexandra Hedison, sources tell E! News. Hedison appeared in the Showtime dramedy "The L Word," about power lesbians in Los Angeles; she is the ex-girlfriend of TV host Ellen DeGeneres, who reportedly dumped her after three years when she met Portia de Rossi. You may recall Jodie Foster's speech at the Golden Globes earlier this year in an emotional yet rambling speech about the death of privacy and the cult of exploitation-reps declined to comment, no surprise there.

Rose’s Scoop: Looks like Enrique Iglesias girlfriend of 12 years Anna Kournikova maybe splitting. The tennis star is getting tired of waiting to tie the knot, Page Six reports.
