HOLLYWOOD—On last night’s episode of “Boardwalk Empire” titled “Gershwin & Bunkum,” Margaret found herself holding a shotgun at one of Nucky’s enemies, and Nucky also tried to derail Jimmy’s plans to become king of the bBoardwalk. While Jimmy didn’t handle a public speech too well.
After paying lip service to his enemies, Nucky introduced a surprise guest speaker at a Memorial Day dedication for war veterans. He knew that Jimmy’s nervousness would get the better of him, and as Jimmy’s hands shook from fear, he tried to downplay his involvement as a soldier during WWI, only to have big brother Nucky belittle him later to associates. Calling Jimmy a failure at college, and a coward in the Army, Nucky has continued his plan to defeat all of his enemies.
With his options dwindling, Eli questioned his allegiances, but ended up digging himself a deeper hole. This was also Nucky’s plan, which played brilliantly into the hands of the crooked politician. Nucky got a new lawyer, but this lawyer seems a bit unhinged and may end up either being a total genius or a lunatic.
Jimmy was taught a painful lesson by a Commodore crony, and he didn’t have Richard around to save him. Richard decided to go hunting deep in the forest, only to have an awakening experience that seemed almost mystical to viewers. “Boardwalk Empire” roared back strong last night. The exciting historic drama is about to take a turn, however, and viewers won’t see it coming! The episode was written by Howard Korder, and it was directed by Tim Van Patten.
Created by Terence Winter, “Boardwalk Empire” is executive produced by Terence Winter, Martin Scorsese, Tim Van Patten, Stephen Levinson and Mark Wahlberg; co-executive produced by Gene Kelly and Howard Korder; produced by Joseph Iberti and Rick Yorn.
“Boardwalk Empire” airs at 10 p.m. on Sunday nights exclusively on HBO.
