'Dexter's' A Horse Of A Different Color
Posted by Contributor on Oct 24, 2011 - 11:59:07 PM

HOLLYWOOD—On last night’s riveting episode of “Dexter,” titled “Horse of a Different Color,” viewers witnessed the side of Dexter that they often embrace. The side of loving father to Harrison, who was very ill last night from a ruptured appendix. Poor Harrison lost his mother Rita when the Trinity serial killer stabbed her. So Dexter has his hands full, and last night was the first night he was unable to create a kill room due to his overwhelming nervousness over his toddler son’s illness, his almost religious awakening and trying to solve a new murder with an apocalyptic theme.

Isn’t Colin Hanks doing a great job as the creepy Travis? The handsome scion from Hollywood royalty - Tom Hanks is his father - is on a series with such great writing and acting that he has a lot of competition but is holding his own. Opposite the legendary character actor Edward James Olmos, Hanks as Travis was very upset last night when he realized that the girl he has feelings for would become Professor Gellar’s latest victim. As the demonic professor watched Travis fornicate with the young lady, he knew that he could use the “sinful” act to force Travis to do more of his bidding.

The Miami PD has started to become suspicious of the professor, who has gone underground, and no one has seen him since he was fired from his position at the University of Miami. However, Dexter is on to both men, at least that is the way it seems to be going. However, when Deb found the woman hanging from the greenhouse, she made a deadly move and the woman was immediately killed with a booby trap that the professor and Travis had set to go off if she was ever found. Dexter heard a buzzing sound, and when Angel opened a doorway in the greenhouse, millions of locusts were unleashed and flew into the sky after scaring the police half to death and millions of TV viewers in the process.

Deb had a very unprepared press conference to make on behalf of the force, but her fumbling during the conference made her supervisor happy, and the public felt as if she was a genuine cop, not a typical slick police officer who lies to the media and the public. Her saucy language may have helped her win over fans in the public, but not in the pediatric wing of the hospital while waiting with her brother Dexter to find out how Harrison’s surgery went. Deb was equally as shocked when Brother Sam came in to the waiting room to offer prayer and support to Dexter in his time of need.

From the very beginning, the apocalyptic horsemen riding down the streets of Miami, we knew that last night’s episode was going to be chilling and exciting. However, now that the Miami police are on to Professor Gellar and Travis, how long will it be before Dexter Morgan manages to meet up with the pair and create even more havoc for the series that is better this season than ever before?

“Dexter” airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. only on Showtime.
