"Glee" Recap: 'Makeover'
Posted by Ivetta Babadjanian on Sep 27, 2012 - 10:06:43 PM

HOLLYWOOD—This week's episode of "Glee" was all about the makeovers that come with growing up and exploring new ways of living.

Chris Colfer with guest star Sarah Jessica Parker.

The episode began with Blaine (Darren Criss) excited about his senior year as he signs up for a series of clubs while singing "Everybody Rules the World." Criss can do no wrong when it comes to performance and singing ability, therefore, the song came across wonderfully. Blaine also finds the courage to sign up to be the class president against former class president, Brittany (Heather Morris).

Brittany realizes the potential threat and asks Artie (Kevin McHale) to run as her vice president and be the Dick Cheney to her George W. Bush by making all the important decisions for her. While Brittany is running for popularity and doesn't plan to make any changes, Blaine is determined to run and improve the school as best he can. Sam (Chord Overstreet) knows that Blaine will need someone popular on his side in order to win and becomes his vice presidential running mate. Brittany challenges her competitors to a debate, sparking a performance with Sam and Brittany singing "Celebrity Skin."

Blaine is feeling ignored by his boyfriend, Kurt (Chris Colfer), who is pursing his dreams in New York. Blaine and Sam end up winning the debate, but Blaine feels unsatisfied. He came to McKinley High to be with Kurt and all his efforts seem to be in vain since he is not there with him. Sam manages to cheer him up and a friendship between the two is established.

Meanwhile in New York, Kurt decides to try and enter the fashion world by going on an interview to work for Vogue.com under its editor and his fashion idol, Isabelle Wright (Sarah Jessica Parker). She is impressed by his portfolio and his bold fashion choices. She hires him on the spot.

His first day on the job, Kurt listens in on a pitch meeting and later tells Isabelle he is unimpressed by the proposals for the website. Isabelle's character comes off as a sweet woman with a love for fashion, but she lacks the ability to manage or tell people no, no matter how absurd their ideas are.

Kurt becomes inspired when he learns that Rachel (Lea Michelle) is being teased at NYADA for the way she dresses. He decides to give her a makeover, so the two sneak into the Vogue building to shoot a video of Rachel that he could pitch to Isabelle for the website. Isabelle arrives at the scene thinking someone broke in but is pleasantly surprised when she learns of Kurt's idea. The three begin to sing a mash-up of the songs "The Way You Look Tonight" and "You're Never Fully Dressed." Parker has a pleasant voice that blended well with the two other characters as they happily enhance Rachel's appearance.

Isabelle receives a positive response from her editor after forwarding the video that was made. However, they plan to reshoot it in Bali with a supermodel. She reminds Kurt that sometimes dreams change, so if he isn't able to make it to Broadway, he will always have a place in the fashion industry.

Rachel showcases her new look to her friend Brody (Dean Geyer), who she is secretly attracted to while he is open about the fact that he likes her. The two spend a fun evening in New York as they sing Sheryl Crow's "A Change Would Do You Good." Afterwards, the two share a romantic moment that gives Rachel the confidence to ask Brody to come to her apartment to make him dinner.

Although she burns dinner and the two end up ordering pizza, the electricity between Rachel and Brody continues to grow stronger until the two finally have a passionate kiss. They are interrupted when someone knocks at the door. Rachel assumes it is Kurt who constantly forgets his keys. She is completely shocked when she sees Finn (Corey Monteith) at the door, who smiles at her lovingly until he notices Brody in the background.

Will Rachel go for her first love or the new boy she can't keep her eyes off of? Hearts are bound to break in the next episode titled, "The Break Up."
