HOLLYWOOD—On last night’s episode of “Hung,” Ray reached new heights of bliss, but he ultimately ended up where viewers knew he’d eventually find himself, that is, in the back of a police cruiser. As the title suggests, Ray, played by actor Thomas Jane, is well-endowed and uses his assets to make extra money, a lot of extra money, aside from his high school coaching job with Detroit’s public school system. The acting on this show really is underrated and superb, and the stars are all at the top of their game. The writing is hilariously brilliant and stretches the boundaries of humor, only in all the right ways.
The episode was titled “F*ck Me, Mr. Drecker” or “Let’s Not Go to Jail,” which is where Ray may end up after his tryst with a former high school student. Yes, she’s all grown up and definitely of age, but after witnessing Ray getting payment for his services on his front lawn, Ray’s female cop “John” decided his services were no longer needed, then proceeded to handcuff the gigolo and throw him in the back of her cruiser.
This after Ray and Tanya conspired to get rid of the lady cop, who they considered an explosive client. That being said, Tanya had selfish reasons for doing so. She worried that Charlie’s freedom may be on the line.
Charlie advised Tanya to keep Lydia (Ana Ortiz) happy, but Tanya never listens to anyone until she finds herself in great turmoil. Lenore managed Sandee’s rising demands, and Matt and Jessica bonded. Jessica went over to see her ex (Ray), only to find his former student in a compromising position. Ray seemed nervous and embarrassed, but his former student seemed a bit giddy.
Last night, we witnessed some of the most amazingly funny scenes in the show’s history. Producers and HBO promised that we’d see a “back to the basics” number of storylines this season, and so far they have not failed us at all. The exciting comedic episode was written by Brett C. Leonard and directed by Dan Attias.
“Hung” is created by Colette Burson and Dmitry Lipkin; executive producers Colette Burson, Dmitry Lipkin, Scott Stephens, Alexander Payne, Michael Rosenberg, Noreen Halpern and John Morayniss; co-executive producer Angela Robinson; producers Hilton H. Smith and Brett C. Leonard.
“Hung” airs on HBO on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
