New Drama On BH & Atlanta “Housewives”
Posted by LaDale Anderson on Nov 7, 2012 - 8:09:10 PM

HOLLYWOOD—When it comes to November sweeps, networks pull out all the stops to get audiences to tune in. Bravo is no different. The network premiered two of their most popular reality series “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” on Sunday, followed by “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” on Monday. Can anybody say double the drama?  It absolutely was.

This season “ Atlanta” saw the introduction of new housewife Kenya Moore, Miss USA and a fiery lady to say the least. She says what she wants to say and when she wants to say it. That Jet Beauty of the Week audition call was one to remember. Some of the terminology that was used by Moore is better slated for television, but I can say it was a hilarious good time to watch. Watch out ladies Kenya will be a fan favorite this season I guarantee it.

Kenya replaces that void that was left by Sheree Whitfield who left the series after four seasons.  I hate to say it, but it was almost as if Sheree was not even missed.  Her name wasn’t even mentioned in the episode.  NeNe continued to relish in her newfound status as a star on “Glee” and her new show “The New Normal” while working on her relationship with Gregg.  Kandi showcased her massive villa to a jealous Kim, who just complained the entire time. Phaedra decided to get involved in planning pet funerals, while Cynthia worked on co-parenting her daughter with her ex Leon, while Peter watched.

While the first episode was a treat, it will be exciting to see how the rest of the season plays out. Another housewife will be introduced to the mix and the catfights, backstabbing, lies and verbal attacks escalate to an all-time high. When has there ever been a time that “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” has disappointed?

In other news, the drama on Atlanta was no match for the cattiness of the women in the wealthy zip code of Beverly Hills. This season we see ourselves minus one wife, Camille Grammar, who is still with the show, but not really. Last season she was virtually non-existent, so its no surprise to see her character faded out a bit this season, but when one housewife leaves that just opens the door for another. In fact, Beverly Hills has two new ladies to its zip code, Brandi Glanville who stirred a vast amount of drama last season and Yolanda Foster, wife of David Foster.

I don’t have a good read on Mrs. Foster yet, but she gives a glare that can cut ice in half. She looks like one housewife that does not play games, and I can’t wait to see her shake up this already fractured group. Kyle continued to play mediator in the group to keep the peace between Kim (her sister) and Brandi. While Kyle and Brandi have a cordial relationship, I would not dare call them friends.  Kim on the other-hand can care less about Brandi. Taylor let the cat of the bag while speaking with Adrienne that Lisa did not invite her to her restaurant’s three-year anniversary. These two ladies looked to be so close in the beginning; I mean they even lived across the street from one another.

They are not on speaking terms and it looks as if they won’t hold any conversations in the near future. While one friend is lost another is gained as Brandi and Lisa have become pals. Both girls say it like they mean it and make no apologies for it.  Who doesn’t love someone who dishes the truth even if it’s hurtful? I’m curious to see how things will play out at Portia’s birthday party with Taylor, Brandi, Kim, Adrienne and Lisa all in the same vicinity. The drama will erupt and friendships will be tested in ways never expected, but if I know Kyle she wont’ let ANYONE ruin her daughter’s big day.

So the drama on Atlanta and Beverly Hills is just beginning, if the first episodes are any indicator we should expect some must-see TV in the next few weeks. “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” airs Sundays at 9 p.m., while “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on Bravo.  We get to have a double dose of the housewives in one week!
