HOLLYWOOD—On Wednesday, July 31, The CW announced plans for a television series based on DC’s comic hero The Flash. The character is set to be introduced in the CW’s upcoming season of “Arrow” and will spin off into it’s own series.

Writers Andrew Kreisberg and Geoff Johns indicate that the story will start off as Barry Allen before he becomes The Flash. It will follow him as a forensic scientist and he will eventually appear on the television show with the red suit. He is set to appear in episodes eight and nine. Episode 20 for the second season of “Arrow” will work as a pilot to The Flash’s series.

“Arrow” appears to be straying from their No Super Powers model of the first season with the coming seasons being shaped by extraordinary events that the characters react to. They have yet to cast someone as Barry Allen, who will eventually portray The Flash.
