“True Blood” Recap: ”˜The Sun”™
Posted by LaDale Anderson on Jun 24, 2013 - 6:13:33 AM

HOLLYWOOD—Episode two of “True Blood” amply titled ”˜The Sun’ opened with Sookie (Anna Paquin) reeling from some vivid dreams where the mysterious being who killed her parents arrived on that fateful bridge.  Jason (Ryan Kwanten) discovered that who he thought was Warlow is actually his fairy grandfather!  Who would have guessed that?  I thought Sookie and Jason were the only remaining Stackhouse relatives left in Bon Temps.

It appears Warlow is the oldest living vampire alive. Eric (Alexander Skarsgard), Pam (Kristen Bauer van Straten) and Nora (Lucy Griffiths) helped Tara (Rutina Wesley) recover from the aftershock of being shot with a new bullet by the government that is quite painful to say the least.  It was quite interesting to see Pam unleash her fearful side, while Eric being Eric unleashed his wrath towards taking out the humans.  Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) came face-to-face with a confused Bill (Stephen Moyer) who visions become overwhelming for him.

Arlene (Carrie Preston) reminded Sookie of her duties at the restaurant, as Terry (Todd Lowe) encountered Patrick’s wife.  On her way to work, Sookie stumbled upon a gentleman that happens to be a faerie just like her.  Nicole Wright (Jurnee Smollett) made her entrance to the series with a group of hipsters from various regions threatening Sam (Sam Trammell) of his true identity. She is a member of an organization aimed to helping bridge the gap between humans and all other supernatural beings. Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) played house with little Emma to keep her safe. Andy (Chris Bauer) had his hands full with daddy duty.

In a shocking sequence, Bill drained a complete stranger of her blood with some frightening bone breaking. “True Blood” has done some epic scenes on television, but this one takes the cake.  Sookie continued to learn more about her new friend, Ben, as they bonded over their complexities. Surprise, he can read minds too!  Jason and his grandfather explored the bathroom where Warlow attempted to crossover.

Nora continued to decipher Lilith’s ultimate goal where she discovered that ”˜the people’ led Lilith to the Sun. Eric decided to infiltrate the Governor’s headquarters, just as daddy forbid his daughter from having a night on the town. Seeing Eric portray the role of reporter was quite hilarious to say the least and found himself in a bit of a dicey situation.

Sookie was surprised to meet her faerie grandfather, while Jason filled his sis in on the fact that Warlow has penetrated into their world.  Warlow has been after their family for years; Niall (Rutger Hauer) is king of the faeries.  There is a secret power in the Stackhouse bloodline that will allow them to kill Warlow, but Sookie can only use the power one-time and it will change her fully into human once used. Sookie is one supernatural being that no one wants to mess with, she can be badass.

Sam came face-to-face with Alcide (Joe Manganiello) and Luna’s grandmother about her whereabouts.  Alcide was forceful in protecting Emma by having Luna’s little one, join the pack, which resulted in a beating for Sam as well as Lafayette.

Eric used his charm to manipulate the Governor’s daughter. Jessica had a heart-to-heart with Bill where she wore her emotions on her sleeve which forced her creator to awake from his somber place; Bill can see the future! This is indeed a power that will work in his favor, just as he saw all of his friends being burned to death.  The fight against vampires doesn’t look good.  Until next Sunday “True Blood” lovers!
