“True Blood” Returns For Season Six
Posted by LaDale Anderson on Jun 12, 2013 - 4:12:26 PM

HOLLYWOOD—Its hard to fathom that its been an entire year, since we’ve last discussed the rumblings in Bon Temps, Louisiana.  More importantly it’s been way too long since we last discussed “True Blood.”  Well the wait is over, as season six to the vampire series returns Sunday, June 16.

Season five in my opinion was one hell of a ride, with more twists and turns than one could expect. Sookie (Anna Paquin) found herself surrounded by multiple suitors including Eric (Alexander Skarsgard), Alcide (Joe Manganiello) and Bill (Stephen Moyer).  As the season progressed, it appears Eric has won over Sookie's heart, but her love for Bill is equally strong as he crossed deeper into the dark side.

Speaking of Bill when we last saw him, he was seen drowning the blood of the all-mighty Lilith; as it turns out the blood killed him, but brought him back to life.  Just how powerful is Bill now? Only time will tell as season six unfolds.  Speaking of the Vampire Authority, it appears Jason (Ryan Kwanten), Sookie, Eric, Nora (Lucy Griffiths) and Tara (Rutina Wesley) dismantled the headquarters as the fight between humans and vampires has reached new heights.

Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) caved into her feelings for Tara, after being rescued. I’m not expecting the relationship to go much further this season, but you never know with the “True Blood” writers; they’re known for throwing curveballs to the audience.  The fate of Luna (Janina Gavankar) will likely be unveiled in the premiere episode.  I was wondering about Luna, as her portrayer Gavankar had showed up in a recurring role on The CW’s “Arrow.”

The biggest plotline I’m looking to see explored this season is the mystery behind Warlow (Rutger Hauer) the mysterious character that Sookie continued to have hallucinations about; more importantly the mystery figure that may be responsible for saving her life.  Lovebirds Terry (Todd Lowe) and Arlene (Carrie Preston) appear to be in a happy place at the end of season five, but as we all know, happiness does not last forever.  Speaking of couples Andy (Chris Bauer) has his hands full pulling daddy duty and copy duty.  Wonder how long Holly (Lauren Bowles) will stand by his side.

The biggest buzz surrounding season six is the departure of series frontrunner Alan Ball from the series, so viewers should likely expect a different “True Blood” this time around.  Viewers will also be treated to the introduction of a sleuth of new characters including Nicole Wright (Jurnee Smollett) and the Governor or Louisiana Truman Burell (Arliss Howard), Willa Burrell (Amelia Rose Blaire), Wes (Luke Grimes)  and Violet (Karolina Wydra).

With so many new and old characters in the mix, we can expect a huge body count this season I suspect.  I mean after six seasons, some of the primary characters have to bite the dust right?  One would expect so, and I sense by the end of season six a major character will die in a way that will shock fans nationwide.  Well its official, summer is here and its time to enjoy the series that takes vampirism to a whole new level!
