Star-Studded AMA's In Hollywood This Month

HOLLYWOOD—Illusion/magic is a theatrical art form as old as the Egyptian Pharaohs and a staple in American entertainment as early as Vaudeville. On April 10, Johnathan Levit (VH1’s magic reality series “Celebracadabra”) will host the 43rd annual Academy of Magical Arts Awards. To thousands of Academy member magicians in over two dozen countries around the world these are the Oscars® or Tonys® of the illusion world.

This year’s Master’s Fellowship Award will be presented to Lance Burton. To date, the second youngest magician to receive the honor. Roy Horn (Sigfried and Roy) was the youngest.

The Academy of Magical Arts, Inc. is a nonprofit social order of nearly 6000 members worldwide devoted to the advancement of the art of magic. One of their primary focuses is to promote a positive image of magic and magicians. The organization promotes the art of magic, encourages fellowship and maintains the highest ethical standards for the art. Their clubhouse, the Magic Castle, is one of the most unique private clubs in the world. It is a Victorian style mansion turned into a clubhouse where members and their guests enjoy world-class magic and magicians share their trade secrets with each other.

WHAT/WHO: THE OSCARS OF MAGIC - A highly anticipated entertainment tradition, The Academy of Magical Arts, Inc. 43rd Annual Awards Show celebrates the lavish world of mystery and illusion by gathering the top magicians from all over the world for one star-studded spectacular night. This year's ceremonies will be hosted by actor, magician and host/judge of VH1's magic reality series - CELEBRACADABRA, Jonathan Levit. Evening producer: Matt Patton. List of talent scheduled to presenter and perform to be announced. Recent years have included such industry names as Jason Alexander, Lance Burton, Loni Anderson, Christina Hendricks, Steve Valentine, Jeff Probst, Mark Wilson, Max Maven, Mac King, Tippi Hedren, Larry Wilmore, Romi Dames, Nigel Lythgoe, Florence Henderson and Neil Patrick Harris to name a few.
