Vi's Corner: "Shannon"
Posted by Vi Logan on Apr 18, 2010 - 1:21:12 PM

BEVERLY HILLS My name is Shannon, and I hope that I put a smile on your face when you looked at my picture!  Just so that you understand, that's not a menacing look you're seeing - it's just that I have quite an under-bite!

Unfortunately, what I'm going to tell you, will wipe that smile away but just for a minute, I promise!  I was found outside on a very cold night, along with my new born puppies.  I'm sad to say that none of them survived.  I was rescued shortly after, and brought here to the Friends of Animals Foundation, and I'm now well, and a happy little girl. So, put that smile back on your face, right now!  Please!

Some people think that I may be a mix of a Brussel Griffon and Poodle.  However, that's just a guess.  But it sounds impressive doesn't it?  I'm not sure of my age, but I'm a young one.  I get along with all of the other dogs here, and I love my walks and all of the attention that I'm getting.  I'm only about 12 pounds, so if you would like to hold me on your lap, I won't argue!  Everyone says that I have a great personality, so I hope that you'll come to see for yourself what a happy little girl I've become.  And, oh, my gosh, how great it would be to have a loving and forever home!  So, won't you please call to see me?

Note:  On April 30, Animal Rescue Stamps will be on sale at the Post Office.  They can also be ordered on line, or by calling 800-782-6724.  They feature faces of 10 happy dogs and cats that have been adopted from shelters.  The Animal Rescue: Adopt a Shelter Pet stamps were introduced on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.  She has teamed up with the USPS in a campaign called Stamps to the Rescue.  Ellen is co-owner of a holistic pet care company called Halo, Purely for Pets, and they are generously giving a million of their excellent meals to shelter pets.

Postmaster John E. Potter says, "This campaign will increase public awareness about sheltered pets and our hope is that it will encourage pet adoption and promote humane and responsible pet care."

The Stamps to the Rescue campaign suggests: buy the stamps, adopt a shelter pet, or volunteer at a shelter.  We'd love to see you!  So, won't you give a call?
