VI'S CORNER: "SIMBA"
Posted by Vi Logan on Sep 25, 2011 - 11:59:59 PM

BEVERLY HILLS—My name is “Simba”, and in case you don’t know, “Simba” comes from the Swahili word for ‘lion’. But, don’t let that scare you away! You won’t have to tame me, and I don’t roar. I’m just a little ten pound Chihuahua mix, that very seldom even barks!

Simba_-_chi_mix_-_head_shot-b.jpg

I was rescued after being abandoned, and I was a pretty scared little boy - but I’m not scared any more. I’ve been here quite a while, and don’t understand why I’ve been overlooked. People say that I have a great personality, and they always comment on my amber eyes and beautiful shiny brown coat. Did you notice the white blaze on my chest and touches of white around my mouth and nose? Kind of unusual, isn’t it?

I get along with other dogs, but I’m sorry to tell you that I’m another one of those that isn’t too happy about being around cats - or rabbits, either! So, I know that cuts my chances down, but I have to tell it like it is!

I have lots of good qualities, though. I’m not a chewer, jumper, or digger. I’ll share my possessions with one and all, I have no separation anxiety, and as I told you before, I’m not a barker. So, I’m sure that there are lots of people out there with no cats or rabbits that would welcome someone like me into their family. I promise that I’ll make you proud of me!

So, why don’t you come to meet me? We can go for a nice walk, and then sit for awhile and get a little more acquainted. I sure would like that! Or, if I’m not the one for you, you can see all of my four-footed friends that are waiting for forever homes if you check the website: foafla.petfinder.com. However, if you’d just like to walk some dogs, or help with my ‘friends’ the kitty cats, you can volunteer. We’d love that!

Now, I’ll leave you with this quote by Roger Caras: “Some of our greatest historical and artistic treasures we place with curators in museums, others we take for walks.”
