VI’S CORNER: “BISKIT”

BEVERLY HILLS—My name is "Snickers". No, I'm not a candy bar, but I've been told I'm as sweet as one! I'm a male Border Collie mix, and everyone that sees me seems to go "ooh" or "aah"! I guess that means that they think I'm a pretty handsome boy! I love everyone - dogs, cats, men, women and children. I don't discriminate! I'm housetrained, nuetered and ready to be adopted. So won't you please call so that we can meet each other?
It seems that every day we hear of more pet foods that have been recalled. So please keep checking www.fda.gov to keep up to date. It has now extended to some dry food and treats. Be sure to check all the labels of the food to be sure that it doesn't contain wheat gluten. A couple of weeks before the recall, my little "Carlos" became extremely ill. I had every test possible given to him. Luckily, there was nothing life threatening found, and with some medication he was fine. Then the recall was announced. I realized I had been mixing a little of the "meat slices and gravy" of one of the best brands in with his regular food to give it a little more flavor. Thank goodness the amount that I mixed in his food was very minimal, but it was enough to make him very ill with all the symptoms that had been noted.
Just a reminder that we would appreciate more dog walkers and people to help in the cattery.
