Dodgers Add Shane Victorino, Brandon League

LOS ANGELES—The Los Angeles Dodgers made two big acquisitions before the 1:00 p.m. trade deadline passed Tuesday afternoon.

Brandon League, P.
First, the Dodgers acquired Brandon League in the middle of the night for two prospects.

Brandon League had been the Seattle Mariners closer in 2011, but was moved to reliever in 2012. At only 29 years old, he has the capability to return to form in a new league.

With Seattle, League had a 3.63 ERA and 9 saves in 46 appearances.

In the morning, the Dodgers acquired Shane Victorino from the Philadelphia Phillies.

Victorino is infamous at Dodgers Stadium and was constantly booed whenever he would go up to bat. Victorino, a major cog in Philadelphia's 2008 NLCS victory over Los Angeles, will now help out a lineup in desperate need of a quality lead-off hitter.

Shane Victorino, OF.
Victorino is in the last year of his deal and was not producing enough in Philadelphia to earn an extension.

Shane's average of .261 batting and .324 on-base are below his career averages of .277 and .342.

Victorino will likely play left field for the Dodgers, as Matt Kemp has a lock on the center field spot.
