Dodgers Make Major Changes To Organization
Posted by Michael Lambrose on Nov 12, 2012 - 1:13:09 PM

LOS ANGELES—It has not been a month since baseball’s off-season began, and the Los Angeles Dodgers have already made several significant adjustments to their organization.

On November 7, General Manager Ned Colletti announced that the legendary slugger Mark McGwire would become the Dodgers’ hitting coach. Mark McGwire, who himself had hit 583 homeruns over his 16-year Major League career, had most recently been the batting coach for the St. Louis Cardinals.

During his three years with that organization, the Cardinals led the National League in batting average and on-base percentage, ranked second in runs, and fourth in slugging.  Colletti stated in a recent press release that the Dodgers are excited to have McGwire because he “has been able to translate his success as a big league hitter into his work as a hitting coach.”

The Dodgers also announced today that they have hired six new international scouts, shortly after hiring Bob Engle as Vice-President of International Scouting, as an apparent attempt to increase their focus at recruiting talent from foreign markets.  These scouts will be covering Europe, Latin America, Cuba, Mexico, the Pacific Rim and Venezuela.
