UNITED STATES—The MLB is set to suspend 20 players in the coming weeks due to a scandal involving performance enhancement drugs. This is one of the biggest, if not biggest, drug abuse cases in sports.

Ryan Braun

Baseball’s highest paid player, Alex Rodriguez “A-Rod” third baseman for the New York Yankees is facing possible suspension. Milwaukee Brewers star Ryan Braun has already been suspended. Rodriguez has admitted to using banned substances in the past when he played for the Texas Rangers.

The league may seek to ban the players for 100 games by counting the doping as one infraction and lying about taking the drugs as the second. Major League players are able to appeal any possible suspensions. It was first reported that Rodriguez had acquired drugs from a now closed Miami anti-aging clinic called “Biogenesis,” which was run by Anthony Bosch who is cooperating in the MLB investigation.
