![]() Baseball BRONX, NY—The New York Yankees acquired ten-time all-star Ichiro Suzuki from the Seattle Mariners for two prospects Monday evening.
In 2001, Ichiro won Rookie of the Year and American League MVP. In his first ten season in the majors, Ichiro amassed 200+ hits and hit at least .300 each year. He also won 10 consecutive Gold Gloves. Over the last season and a half, however, Ichiro's numbers have dipped from his usual elite level. In 2011, he hit .272 with 184 hits. This year, Ichiro is batting .261 with a sub-par .288 on-base percentage. In 2004, Ichiro set the MLB single-season record for hits with 262. He currently ranks sixth among active players in hits, his new Yankee teammates Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez currently rank one and two. © Copyright 2011 by canyon-news.com |
