Brian Shaw Hired As Denver Nuggets Coach

DENVER—The Denver Nuggets have hired Brian Shaw as their new head coach. They officially introduced Shaw on Tuesday, who is a longtime assistant in the NBA.  He has finally gotten a shot at a head coaching position.

Brian Shaw has worked with Phil Jackson who he won multiple championships with. He was also under Frank Vogel this past season in Indiana, which they made it to the Eastern Conference Finals before being bounced by the Miami Heat. He was a first round pick by the Boston Celtics in 1988 he played for eight different teams in his 14 seasons. He won three championships with the Los Angeles Lakers and two more as Jackson’s assistant coach.

 

Shaw steps in as the Nuggets coach after nine-year coach George Karl, who coach of the year wasn’t given a contract extension. The team won a club history best 57 games, only to lose in the first round to the sixth seeded Golden State Warriors. With players like Ty Lawson, Javale McGee and Kenneth Faried their future is in good hands.
