Bruins Loss To Minnesota Ends Season
Posted by Luis Cuevas on Mar 22, 2013 - 10:14:04 PM

WESTWOOD—On Friday, March 22, UCLA played their last game of the season after losing to Minnesota in their first game of the NCAA tournament. UCLA a No. 6 seed lost to Minnesota a No. 11 seed.

This is another early round exit for UCLA who were (25-10) under Ben Howland even thought they won the Pac-12 conference during the regular season Coach Ben Howland is unsure if he will return next season. Shabazz Muhammad scored 20 points for The Bruins, but it wasn’t enough in a game that may be his last as a college student if he decides to go to the NBA.

Andre Hollins scored 28 points and pulled down nine rebounds against the Bruins on Friday leading Minnesota to an 83-63 win over UCLA. Andre Hollins was 8-for-16 from the field and five of those were three pointers. Austin Hollins and Joe Coleman contributed a combined 30 points to help Minnesota win. The Golden Gophers shot 56 percent from the three-point line and 50 percent overall for the game.

Ben Howland coach of the bruins has lead UCLA to three back-to-back Final Four appearances, but none since 2008. Since 2009 Coach Howland hasn’t made it past the first weekend of the NCAA tournament punctuated with a 20-point loss to Minnesota after winning the Pac-12 regular season.
