LOS ANGELES—On Monday, June 24, rhe NBA approved the Los Angeles Clippers acquisition of Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers. The official announcement is now in the hand of both of the teams since the front office made the approval.

The Los Angeles Clippers recently let go head coach Vinny Del Negro after he led the team to a division title and a regular season team club best record. He was let go because the team failed to get past the first round of the NBA playoffs. The Boston Celtics have also failed to reach the heights of the NBA since their encounters with the Los Angeles Lakers, not necessarily due to Doc Rivers, but to the team as a whole.

The deal involving Kevin Garnett is currently on hold as the NBA commissioner David Stern thought it was, because of the Rivers trade. The Clippers will sign Rivers to a three-year contract worth $21 million. The Celtics agreed to release Rivers of his three-year $21 million contract and also will receive a 2015 first round draft pick as compensation.
