MILWAUKEE—The Milwaukee Bucks have used their amnesty provision to waive veteran forward Drew Gooden. The Bucks announced the move on Tuesday night.

Gooden, 31, had a two year contract and $13.36 million left on his 5-year $32 million contract he signed in 2010 with the Bucks. He will get paid despite being waived, but the money won’t count against the Bucks salary cap. The amnesty provision was added during the collective bargaining agreement in 2011, allowing teams to waive players without their salaries affecting the salary cap. Teams had a Tuesday deadline to use the provision.

Gooden was selected fourth overall by Memphis in 2002. Gooden had played with nine teams in his career and averaged 11.8 points and 7.6 rebounds. He played in 107 games over the last three seasons with the Bucks and had career lows of 3.3 points and 1.9 rebounds.
