FGCU have shown joy unlike any team in a tournament with such high stakes. Florida used a 21-2 run to put Georgetown away in their first game. Against San Diego State Florida used a 17-0 run and by the end Florida had 71-52 lead with only four minutes to go in the ball game.

Florida Gulf Coast opened its campus in Fort Myers, Florida in 1997. The university only became eligible for postseason play last year. Their next game will be on Friday night in Dallas, TX against No. 3 Florida considered the main basketball university of the Florida system.
