MIAMI—LeBron James spoke to his advisors and fellow players and has decided to not run for NBPA president. He contemplated becoming the National Basketball Player’s Association president when it became open this summer after Derek Fisher’s term expired.

He may instead support his fellow Miami Heat teammate who is currently the treasurer of the union. The union, which is holding its summer meeting in Las Vegas next week, currently doesn’t have an executive director or a president.

Jerry Stackhouse, an executive member of the player’s union, disagreed with James' assessment. James has gotten more vocal in union business over the last two years. He attended some bargaining seasons during the 2011 lockout and then spoke up at a meeting over All-Star weekend last season.
