NEW YORK—On Wednesday, April 24, the New York Knicks beat the Boston Celtics to take a 2-0 lead in the series. The Knicks won 87-71 thanks to the performance of superstar Carmelo Anthony.

J.R. Smith

Anthony led the Knicks with 34 points including 13 during a pivotal run in the third quarter to run away from the Celtics who were only down three at half time. Sixth Man of The Year, J.R. Smith added 19 points to contribute to the win. Raymond Felton scored 16 points as the Knicks ran the Celtics out of Madison Square Garden.

Great defense by the Knicks in the second half put the game out of the hands for the Celtics. The Knicks held Boston to only 23 points in the second half, which was a playoff low for the Celtics franchise. Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 18 points, but they only shot 37 percent from the field.

The next game of the best of seven series will be played on Friday in Boston. The Knicks who have home court advantage were able to win the last two games and will next head on the road to Boston. They expect the atmosphere to be very emotional for the Celtics players, but they hope to weather the storm with cohesive play and concentration.
