WESTWOOD—The UCLA Bruins men's basketball program may be getting some good news as reports surfaced Thursday that freshman Kyle Anderson is likely to be cleared by the NCAA.

Anderson, along with freshman Shabazz Muhammad, has had his amateur eligiblity under investigation since the summer. The two top 10 recruits are suspected of receiving improper benefits while in high school.

However, reports say that Anderson will be cleared in time for him to make the team's first practice on October 12.

This would be great news for the Bruins, as they will likely have to lean on Anderson and his fellow freshman class if they hope to make a run at the university's twelfth men's basketball title.

No word yet on Muhammad's investigation, but university officials are still optimistic he will be cleared in time for UCLA's opening practice.
