Posted by Luis Cuevas on Apr 9, 2013 - 9:24:31 PM

LOS ANGELES— On Tuesday, April 9, the Los Angeles Lakers beat the New Orleans Hornets to move back into contention for the playoffs. The Lakers get back to the No. 8 seed after beating the Hornets (27-51) with a 104-96 win. The Utah Jazz (41-38) losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder, helped the Lakers.

Kobe Bryant posted 30 points, six rebounds, six assists, five steals and one block. A terrific performance from Bryant put the Lakers back in the driver seat in the race for the eighth and final spot for the western conference playoffs. Pau Gasol had 22 points, and 11 rebounds. Dwight Howard also contributed to the win by putting up 19 points and blocking two shots for the Lakers.

The Hornets had a valiant effort spear headed by rookie center Anthony Davis who had 18 points, 14 rebounds, two assists, four steals and one block. Eric Gordon scored 22 points and Ryan Anderson came off the bench with 14 points, but it wasn’t enough to pull out the win.

The Lakers (41-37) have four games left, one on the road and the rest at home. The three final games are at home, but also against current western conference playoff teams.
