Los Angeles Clippers Win Division

LOS ANGELES—On Sunday, April 7, the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Los Angeles Clippers causing the Lakers to fall out of the playoffs and giving the Clippers their first ever division title in franchise history.


The Lakers, the usual winners of the Pacific Division, in recent years have switched places with the other Los Angeles team. The Clippers swept the Lakers 4-0 in the season series, the first time since David Sterling bought the team in 1981. The Clippers won on Sunday 109-95 with Chris Paul scoring 24 points, and 12 assists.


Blake Griffin also scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Jamal Crawford contributed 20 points off the bench, DeAndre Jordan had 13 rebounds and Caron Butler scored 14 points to lead the Clippers to the victory.

The Los Angeles Lakers have five more games this season; two are against teams out of the playoffs, but their final three games are against teams already headed to the playoffs. Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard both scored 25 points during the loss.


The Clippers (51-26) the No. 4 seed in the western conference and the Los Angeles Lakers (40-37) the No. 9 seed in the western conference faced off at the Staples Center. The Los Angeles Lakers next host the New Orleans Hornets at home and the Clippers host the Minnesota Timberwolves.
